AntAngioCOOL: computational detection of anti-angiogenic peptides, Journal of Translational Medicine.

Angiogenesis inhibition research is a cutting edge area in angiogenesis-dependent disease therapy, especially in cancer therapy. Recently, studies on anti-angiogenic peptides have provided promising results in the field of cancer treatment. A non-redundant dataset of 135 anti-angiogenic peptides (positive instances) and 135 non anti-angiogenic peptides (negative instances) was used in this study. Also, 20% of each class were selected to construct an independent test dataset (see Additional files 1, 2). We proposed an effective machine learning based R package (AntAngioCOOL) to predict anti-angiogenic peptides. We have examined more than 200 different classifiers to build an efficient predictor. Also, more than 17,000 features were extracted to encode the peptides.

A Linear Time DNA Algorithm to solve 0/1 Knapsack, Bioinformatics and Biocomputational Research
Many combinalorial optimization problems are known to be NP-hard, which can be solved in exponential time. Due to the vast parallelism cryability of the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA), DNA computing has been exploited to solve various NP-hard problems in potynomial time. The 0/l knapsack problem is a well-known NP-hard problem, which designed to lind a subset of a given set of odects with maximum profit and the total is weight less than or equal to the knapsack capacity. In this paper, we present a novel parallel DNA algorithm to solve the 0/l knapsack problem in O(n) time complexity.

Cancer Odor Database (COD): a critical databank for cancer diagnosis research

Here, we present Cancer Odor Database (COD), a web-based database comprising comprehensive information of volatile organic metabolites of cancer (VOMC), known as cancer odor, which gives a structured overview of VOMCs that are of critical importance in cancer research. The database contains more than 1300 records with 19 critical features for each record, such as structural and chemical properties (e.g. boiling point, molecular formula and molecular weight) of 450 different VOMCs and their origins, which can be used effectively to identify correlations between VOMCs and various types of cancer. COD database has been constructed based on the data that were directly extracted from literature. COD information can be helpful for cancer researches, especially for those who are developing sensors and electronic nose systems for cancer detection.
