Prioritizing the digitalization of export industry data systems to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

We also addressed ongoing challenges in the export sector, including issues related to apparel exports, and formulated practical solutions with the consensus of all stakeholders.

The Export Development Council of Ministers, originally established on September 11, 1980, had been inactive for many years, with no meetings held from 1992 to 2020. Even when it convened in 2020, no significant decisions were implemented. Today’s meeting marks the revival of the committee after a gap of 28 years, signifying a historic milestone in our nation’s journey towards export excellence.

The committee includes representatives from key ministries such as Trade, Shipping, Plantations, Agriculture, Industry, Textiles, Fisheries, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Supply Chain, and Rural Development. Together, our objective is to enhance Sri Lanka’s global competitiveness by formulating and implementing robust national export development policies and programs.

Notable participants in today’s meeting included Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake, Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathne, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Co-operative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment Dr. Upali Pannilage, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) Mangala Wijesinghe, along with secretaries of relevant ministries and other state officials.

In line with our government’s policy of “A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life,” I have directed officials to take the necessary steps to increase Sri Lanka’s export revenue to $36 billion by 2030.

I shared these views today (27) during the meeting of the Export Development Council of Ministers (EDCM), held at the Presidential Secretariat. Our export revenue, which stood at USD 16.1 billion in 2024, is projected to rise to USD 18.2 billion this year. By implementing a comprehensive action plan, we are confident of reaching our long-term goal of USD 36 billion by 2030.

Our discussions centered on the critical importance of strengthening domestic production and transitioning to an export-driven economy. I underscored the need to leverage Sri Lanka’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and abundant natural resources to achieve sustainable industrial growth. This requires revitalizing struggling domestic manufacturing industries, enhancing the competitiveness of export sectors, promoting the services industry, and capturing global markets through innovative strategies.

We also focused on attracting Foreign Direct Investment under a national framework by creating a business-friendly environment, reducing production costs, and ensuring the availability of essential infrastructure and resources.

Key decisions and initiatives from the meeting include the following:

Establishing a VAT refund system at the airport for goods purchased by tourists.

Addressing delays in the inspection of export products by replacing manual processes with an automated scanning system at Katunayake airport, funded by the Ministry of Industries.

Enabling the inspection of railway engines manufactured in Sri Lanka to be conducted domestically, removing a significant barrier to exports.

Introducing renewable energy sources to reduce costs in the export industry and launching a program to encourage exporters to adopt modern, energy-efficient technology.

Allocating funding from the CESS fund to support entrepreneurs and investors in meeting export targets.

Establishing an Investment Facilitation Committee to provide support for both domestic and foreign investments in the export sector.

Offering export incentives for gems and jewelry by implementing accurate valuation methods.

Providing customs duty concessions on raw material imports to boost the export of locally manufactured electronic equipment and devices.

Increasing the bank guarantee limits to incentivize service exports.

புதிய அரசாங்கத்தின் "வளமான நாடு - அழகான வாழ்வு" கொள்கை பிரகடனத்துக்கு அமைவாக 2030 ஆம் ஆண்டளவில் ஏற்றுமதி வருமானத்தை 36 பில்லியன் டொலர்களாக அதிகரிப்பதற்கு தேவையான நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்குமாறு அதிகாரிகளுக்கு அறிவுறுத்தல் விடுத்தேன்.

2024 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 16.1 பில்லியன் டொலர்களாக காணப்பட்ட ஏற்றுமதி வருமானத்தை இந்த ஆண்டு 18.2 பில்லியன் டொலர்களாக அதிகரித்துக்கொள்ள எதிர்பார்க்கும் அதேநேரம், புதிய திட்டத்தின் மூலம் 2030 ஆம் ஆண்டில் வருமானத்தை 36 பில்லியன் டொலர்களாக உயர்த்திக்கொள்ள எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

இலங்கையின் பொருளாதார அபிவிருத்தி செய்ய, உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தியை பலப்படுத்தி ஏற்றுமதியை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட உற்பத்திப் பொருளாதாரத்தை நோக்கி நகர வேண்டியதன் அவசியம் குறித்து இங்கு கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டதுடன், இலங்கையின் அமைவிடம், மனித வளங்கள் மற்றும் இயற்கை வளங்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி நீண்ட கால கைத்தொழில் அபிவிருத்தித் திட்டத்தை உருவாக்குவது குறித்தும் கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது.

அதன் மூலம் வீழ்ச்சியடைந்த உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தித் தொழில்துறைகளுக்கு புத்துயிர் அளித்தல், ஏற்றுமதித் தொழில்துறைகளில் போட்டித்தன்மை மிக்கதாக்குதல், சேவை தொழிற்துறையை ஊக்குவித்தல், புதிய கேள்விகள் மூலம் உலகச் சந்தையில் இடம்பிடித்தல், தேசியத் திட்டத்திற்கு அமைவாக வௌிநாட்டு நேரடி முதலீட்டை வரவழைத்தல், புதிய முதலீடுகளுக்கு ஏற்ற சூழலை உருவாக்குதல், குறைந்த செலவு, தேவையான உட்கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள் மற்றும் உள்ளீடுகள், விநியோகங்கள் குறித்தும் இங்கு கவனம் செலுத்தப்பட்டது.

• இந்நாட்டிற்கு வருகை தரும் சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் கொள்வனவு செய்யும் பொருட்களுக்கு உள்ளடக்கப்படும் வரியை மீளப் பெற்றுக்கொடுப்பதற்கான (VAT REFUND SYSTEM) கட்டமைப்பை விமான நிலையத்தில் அமைக்க இதன்போது தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஏற்றுமதிப் பொருட்களைப் பரிசோதிக்கும் போது ஏற்படும் தாமதம் மற்றும் வினைத்திறன் இன்மையைத் தவிர்ப்பதற்காக, Manual முறைக்குப் பதிலாக, சர்வதேச தரத்திற்கு அமைவான தானியக்க (Scanning) முறைமையை கட்டுநாயக்க விமான நிலையத்தில் நிறுவ திட்டமிடப்பட்டது. அதற்கான ஒதுக்கீடுகளை தொழிற்துறை அமைச்சிடமிருந்து பெற்றுக்கொள்ள இணக்கம் எட்டப்பட்டது.

• இலங்கையில் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் புகையிரத என்ஜின் ஏற்றுமதிக்கு தடையாக காணப்பட்ட " புகையிரத என்ஜின் பரிசோதனையை" இலங்கையில் மேற்கொள்ள அனுமதியளிக்கவும் இதன்போது தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஏற்றுமதித் தொழில்துறையின் செலவை மட்டுப்படுத்த புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க வலுசக்தி மூலாதாரங்களை அறிமுகப்படுத்தவும், நவீன தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி செலவீனங்களை பயனுள்ளதாக்கி மின்சாரத்தைச் சேமிக்கும் ஏற்றுமதியாளர்களை ஊக்குவிக்கும் திட்டத்தை ஆரம்பிக்க தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஏற்றுமதி இலக்குகளை அடைய தொழில் முயற்சியாளர்கள் மற்றும் முதலீட்டாளர்களை அடிப்படையாக கொண்டு ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்த (CESS) நிதியத்தில் இருந்து ஒதுக்கீடுகளை வழங்க தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஏற்றுமதித் தொழில்துறையில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் உள்நாட்டு மற்றும் வெளிநாட்டு முதலீடுகளை ஊக்குவிக்க முதலீட்டு வசதிக் குழுவை (Investment Facilitate Committee) நிறுவ தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஏற்றுமதி பெறுமதியை சரியாகக் கண்டறியும் முறைமையின் ஊடாக ஏற்றுமதி செய்யப்படும் மாணிக்க கற்கள் மற்றும் ஆபரணங்களுக்கு ஏற்றுமதி ஊக்குவிப்பு வழங்கவும் இக்கலந்துரையாடலில் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

• உள்நாட்டில் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் இலத்திரனியல் உபகரணங்கள் மற்றும் இலத்திரனியல் பாகங்கள் ஏற்றுமதி தொடர்பில் அரசாங்கம் கவனம் செலுத்தியிருப்பதுடன், இதற்கான மூலப்பொருட்கள் இறக்குமதியின் போது தீர்வை வரிச் சலுகைகளை வழங்குவது குறித்து கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது.

• மேற்கூறிய தீர்மானங்களை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தும் போது, ஏற்றுமதி தொழில் தொடர்பான தரவு கட்டமைப்புகளை டிஜிட்டல் மயமாக்குவது தொடர்பில் விசேட கவனம் செலுத்தப்பட்டது.

• சேவை ஏற்றுமதியை ஊக்குவிக்க வங்கி உத்தரவாத எல்லையை அதிகரிப்பது குறித்தும் இங்கு கவனம் செலுத்தப்பட்டது.

I pointed out that the tradition, which has been built upon the teachings of the Lord Buddha, has played a significant role in shaping Sri Lankan society, and that it is the responsibility of everyone to preserve and pass on the Buddhist tradition to future generations.

I also reminded everyone of the historical significance of the Upasampada Vinaya Karma, a major ceremony in Buddhism, and stated that the cessation of ordained monks (Upasampada Bhikkhus) would mean the dissolution of the Buddhist institution itself. I emphasized the importance of preserving these ancient traditions and carrying them forward with honour.

The Upasampada ordination ceremony of the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Maha Nikāya is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 5, 2025, at the Vijithapura, Palugaswewa Punyavardhanarama Vihara, with the ordination ceremony set to occur in the Udakukhepa Seema Malaka area. This grand ceremony, with over 250 novice monks participating in the ordination process, will be held under state patronage.

Since the 'Upasampada Vinaya Karma' ceremony is held biannually by the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Maha Nikāya and is regarded by the government as a prestigious event, I have instructed the relevant officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are provided without any shortcomings for the event.

මහා විහාරවංශික ශ්‍රී ලංකා රාමඤ්ඤ මහා නිකායේ 74 වන උපසම්පදා රාජ්‍ය උත්සවය පැවැත්වීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අද (22) දින ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේ දී පැවති සාකච්ඡාවට සහභාගි වීමි.

මෙහිදී, නීති-රීතිවලින් පමණක් රටක් ඉදිරියට ගෙන යා නොහැකි බවත් රටක සම්ප්‍රදාය ඉතාම වැදගත් අංගයක් බවත් මම අවධාරණය කළෙමි.

බුදු දහමෙහි හරයන් මත ගොඩ නැගුණු සම්ප්‍රදාය ශ්‍රී ලංකා සමාජය හැඩගැස්වීමෙහි ලා සුවිශේෂී කාර්යභාරයක් සිදු කර තිබෙන බවත් එනයින් බෞද්ධ සම්ප්‍රදාය අනාගත පරම්පරාවට සුරක්ෂිතව ලබා දීම සියලු දෙනාගේම වගකීමක් බවත් මම පෙන්වා දුනිමි.

බෞද්ධාගම තුළ තිබෙන ප්‍රධාන උත්සවයක් වන උපසම්පදා විනය කර්මයෙහි ඓතිහාසික වැදගත්කම මෙහිදී සිහිපත් කළ මා උපසම්පදා භික්ෂුව අහෝසි වීම යනු බෞද්ධ සංස්ථාවම අහෝසි වීමක් බවත්, එම අතීත සම්ප්‍රදායන් ආරක්ෂා කර ගනිමින් ගෞරවයෙන් ඉදිරියට ගෙන යා යුතු බවත් සඳහන් කළෙමි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා රාමඤ්ඤ මහා නිකායේ උපසම්පදා විනය කර්ම රාජ්‍ය උත්සවය 2025 ජුනි 30 වන දා සිට ජූලි 05 වන දා අතර විජිතපුර, පලුගස්වැව පුණ්‍යවර්ධනාරාම විහාරස්ථානය කේන්ද්‍ර කර ගනිමින් උදකුක්ඛේප සීමා මාලකයේදී සිදු කිරීමට නියමිතය. සාමණේර හිමිවරුන් 250කට අධික පිරිසකගේ උපසම්පදා විනය කර්ම මහා උත්සවය මෙලෙස රාජ්‍ය අනුග්‍රහයෙන් පැවැත් වේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා රාමඤ්ඤ මහා නිකායේ දෙවසරකට වරක් සිදු කරනු ලබන උපසම්පදා විනය කර්මය ගරු කටයුත්තක් ලෙස රජය සලකන බැවින්, ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය පහසුකම් නොපිරිහෙලා ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කරන ලෙස මම මෙහිදී නිලධාරීන්ට උපදෙස් ලබා දුනිමි.

இலங்கை ராமண்ய பீடத்தின் 74 ஆவது உப சம்பதா அரச நிகழ்வை நடத்துவது தொடர்பில் ஜனாதிபதி அலுவலகத்தில் இன்று (22) நடைபெற்ற கலந்துரையாடலில் கலந்துகொண்டேன்.

நடைமுறைச் சட்டங்களினால் மாத்திரம் நாடொன்று முன்னோக்கிச் செல்ல முடியாதெனவும் நாட்டின் பாரம்பரியம் மிக முக்கியமான அம்சமாகும் எனவும் தெரிவித்தேன்.

இலங்கை பெளத்த மதத்தின் அடிப்படையில் கட்டியெழுப்பட்ட பாரம்பரியத்தின் ஊடாக சிறப்புக்குரிய பணியை ஆற்றியிருப்பதாகவும், அந்த பாரம்பரியத்தை பாதுகாத்து எதிர்கால சந்ததிகளிடம் பாதுகாப்பாக கையளிக்க வேண்டியது அனைவரினதும் பொறுப்பாகும் என்றும் தெரிவித்தேன்.

பௌத்த மதத்திற்குள் காணப்படும் முக்கிய நிகழ்வான உபசம்பதா நிகழ்வின் வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவத்தை இதன்போது நினைவுகூர்ந்ததுடன், உபசம்பதா முறை தடைப்படுவது முழு பௌத்த அமைப்பினதும் சிதைவாக அமையும் என்றும், இந்த வரலாற்று பாரம்பரியத்தை பாதுகாத்து கௌரவத்துடன் முன்னோக்கி கொண்டுச் செல்ல வேண்டுமெனவும் தெரிவித்தேன்.

இலங்கை ராமண்ய பீடத்தினால் நடத்தப்படும் உபசம்பதா தேசிய நிகழ்வு 2025 ஜூன் 30 ஆம் திகதி முதல் ஜூலை 05 வரையில் விஜிதபுர, பழுகஸ்வெவ, புண்யவர்தனாராம விகாரையை மையப்படுத்தி உதகுக்கேப சீமாமாலக்கயவில் நடத்தப்படவுள்ளது. 250கும் அதிகமான இளம் பிக்குகளுக்கான உபசம்பதா நிகழ்வு அரசாங்க அனுசரணையுடன் நடைபெற வுள்ளது.

இலங்கை ராமண்ய மகா பீடத்தில் இரு வருடங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை நடத்தப்படும் உப சம்பதா நிகழ்வு ஒரு கௌரவ நிகழ்வாக அரசாங்கத்தினால் கருதப்படும் நிலையில் அதற்கு அவசியமான வசதிகளை தயக்கமின்றி செய்து கொடுக்குமாறு இதன்போது வலியுறுத்தினேன்.

பௌத்த மத பாரம்பரியத்தை பாதுகாப்பதன் ஊடாக சமூக மலர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தலாம் என்றும், இவ்வாறான மத நிகழ்வுகளை நடத்துவதன் மூலம் சமூகத்தின் மலர்ச்சியை மேலும் வலுப்படுத்தலாம் என்றும் தெரிவித்தேன்.

Today (22), I participated in a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat regarding the 74th Upasampada Vinaya Karma’ ceremony of the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Maha Nikāya.

During this, I emphasized that a country cannot move forward solely through laws and regulations, and that the traditions of a country are a very important element.

අද (05) පස්වරුවේ ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකා පරිපාලන සේවා සංගමය සමඟ සාකච්ඡාවක නිරත වීමි.

ඉදිරි වසර පහ තුළ ග්‍රාමීය ජනතාවගේ දුගීභාවය තුරන් කිරීම, ග්‍රාමීය ජනතාවගේ ආර්ථිකය සහ සමාජයීය තත්ත්වය ඉහල නැංවීම රජයේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණක් වන බව මෙහිදී මම පැවසුවෙමි.

රජයේ එම වැඩපිළිවෙල සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සහාය අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බව පැවසූ අතර රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් සතු අත්දැකීම් ඊට මනා පිටිවහලක් වන බව ද පැවසුවෙමි.

රජයේ පරමාර්ථය සහ රාජ්‍ය සේවය ක්‍රියාත්මක වන ආකාරය අතර යම් පරතරයක් තිබෙන බවත්, රට සංවර්ධනය කරා ගෙන යන රජයේ වැඩපිළිවෙල සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීමට නම් රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලනය මෙතෙක් කටයුතු කළ ආකාරය වෙනස් විය යුතු බවත් මම පෙන්වා දුනිමි.

රටේ වංචා දූෂණ නතර කිරීම රජයේ ප්‍රමුඛතම කාර්යභාරයක් වන බවත්, වංචා සහ දූෂණ හේතුවෙන් රටේ ව්‍යාපෘති ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට මෙන්ම අවසන් කිරීමට නොහැකි වී ඇති බවත් මම මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළෙමි.

එසේම රාජ්‍ය සේවය තුළ දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය වශයෙන් කිසිඳු අත පෙවීමක් සිදු නොකරන බවත්, රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ට ස්වාධීනව කටයුතු කිරීමට අවස්ථාව සළසා දී තිබෙන බවත් මම මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළෙමි.

රටේ ප්‍රාදේශීය සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ට සුවිශේෂී කාර්යභාරයක් පැවරී තිබෙන බවත්, ජනතා සේවාවන් කප්පාදු කිරීමකින් තොරව රාජ්‍ය සේවය සඳහා කරන අනවශ්‍ය වියදම් අවම කර ගත යුතු බවද පෙන්වා දුනිමි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා පරිපාලන සේවා සංගමයේ සභාපති මහේෂ් ගම්මන්පිල, ලේකම් ජයවීර ප්‍රනාන්දු යන මහත්වරුන් ඇතුළු කමිටු සාමාජිකයන් පිරිසක් මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක්ව සිටියහ.

இலங்கை நிர்வாக சேவைகள் சங்கத்துடன் இன்று (05) பிற்பகல் ஜனாதிபதி செயலகத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற கலந்துரையாடலில் ஈடுபட்டேன்.

எதிர்வரும் 5 வருடங்களில் கிராமிய மக்களின் வறுமையை ஒழித்தல் கிராம மக்களின் பொருளாதாரம் மற்றும் சமூக நிலைமைகளை மேம்படுத்துதல் என்பன அரசாங்கத்தின் பிரதான நோக்கங்கள் என்பதை இங்கு குறிப்பிட்டேன்.அரசாங்கத்தின் அந்த வேலைத்திட்டம் வெற்றியடைவதற்கு அரச அதிகாரிகளின் ஆதரவு மிகவும் அவசியமானது எனவும் தெரிவித்தேன்.

அரசாங்கத்தின் நோக்கத்திற்கும் அரச சேவைகள் செயற்படும் விதத்திற்கும் இடையில் சில இடைவெளி காணப்படுவதாகவும், நாட்டை அபிவிருத்தி செய்யும் அரசாங்கத்தின் வேலைத்திட்டத்தை வெற்றியடையச் செய்வதற்கு இதுவரையில் அரச நிர்வாகம் செயற்பட்டு வந்த விதத்தில் மாற்றம் ஏற்பட வேண்டும் எனவும் நான் சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன்.

நாட்டில் மோசடி மற்றும் ஊழலை நிறுத்துவது அரசாங்கத்தின் முக்கிய பணி எனவும், மோசடி மற்றும் ஊழல் காரணமாக நாட்டின் திட்டங்களை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தி பூர்த்தி செய்ய முடியாத நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டேன்.

அத்துடன், அரச சேவையில் அரசியல் ரீதியிலான தலையீடுகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட மாட்டாது எனவும், அரச உத்தியோகத்தர் களுக்கு சுதந்திரமாக செயற்படுவதற்கு சந்தர்ப்பம் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் இங்கு வலியுறுத்தினேன்.

நாட்டின் பிரதேச அபிவிருத்திக்காக அரச அதிகாரிகளுக்கு விசேட பொறுப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக எடுத்துரைத்ததோடு, மக்கள் சேவைகளை குறைக்காமல் அரச சேவையில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் தேவையற்ற செலவுகளை குறைக்க வேண்டும் குறிப்பிட்டேன்.

இலங்கை நிர்வாக சேவைகள் சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் மகேஷ் கம்மன்பில, செயலாளர் ஜயவீர பெர்னாண்டோ உட்பட குழு உறுப்பினர்கள் இந்தக் கலந்துரையாடலில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

Today (05), I had the opportunity to meet with the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association at the Presidential Secretariat. During our discussion, I shared that the main goal of the government over the next five years is to eradicate poverty among rural communities and to improve both their economic and social conditions.

I emphasized that the support of public officials is crucial for the success of this government program, noting that the experience of public officials would be priceless in achieving these goals.

I also pointed out that there is a gap between the government's objectives and the current implementation of public service. I stressed that in order to align public administration with the government’s development agenda; we must make necessary changes to how the public service operates.

I made it clear that tackling fraud and corruption is a top priority for the government, as these issues have hindered the successful implementation of projects and overall progress in the country.

Furthermore, I assured them that there is no political interference in the public service, and that public officials have been given the autonomy to act independently.

I also highlighted the important role that public officials play in regional development.

I emphasized the importance of establishing a single service window by integrating other government agencies and Sri Lanka Customs to streamline export trade. I also highlighted the need for digitalization to increase the efficiency of government agencies involved in exports.

Additionally, I mentioned that the government is focusing on key areas such as reducing energy costs significantly, promoting foreign investments, and restructuring diplomatic services to improve access to the international market.

I reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving these objectives swiftly, with broad support from everyone in the export sector.

Exporters from various sectors—construction, freight transport and logistics, fish exports, information technology, gems and jewelry, printing, glass and ceramics, and the spice industry—participated in this discussion, and we also explored potential solutions to their challenges.

We discussed the government’s future plans for increasing export income, with a focus on investment promotion, effective regulation, research and development, infrastructure growth, enhancing industry productivity, expanding market access, digitization, and tax concessions.

The Chairman of the Export Development Board, Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, along with several senior officials, attended this discussion.
