August 5th 910 the battle of Tettenhall took place near Wednesfield in present day Wolverhampton.
The battle of Tettenhall was between and allied Anglo-Saxon force from Mercia and Wessex under the command of รthelflรฆd the daughter of King Alfred the Great the wife of Lord รthelred Lord of Mercia and the future Lady of Mercia and her brother King Edward the Ealder. They faced a hugh Viking army, no one knows the exact numbers but they must have numbered in the thousands. The Vikings were led by the three joint Kings Eowils, Halfdan and Ingwรฆr of the Danelaw. But to fully understand this battle we must first look at the events leading up to it.
During the reign of รthelflรฆds and Edwards father King Alfred the Great an agreement had been made between the Anglo-Saxons and the invading Vikings after the crushing Anglo-Saxon victory at the battle of Eddington. The agreement created the Danelaw, this was land that was controlled by the Danish Vikings and the Kingdom of the Anglo-Saxons with King
