Does Iman increase and decrease - Sheikh Al-Albani

‎من هنا نحن نقول دائمًا وأبدًا كما عُلِّمنا من سلفنا: عليكم بالأمر العتيق
From here we always and forever say as we were taught by our Salaf: “It is mandatory upon you to stick to how it was at the old time (i.e., the time of the Prophet ﷺ and the Ṣahābah).”

‎في زمن الصحابة لم يكن هناك من يقول الإيمان لا يزيد ولا ينقص
At the time of the Ṣahābah, there was nobody that said: Imān does not increase or decrease.

‎لأنَّ هذا خلاف الكتاب والسنة
That's because this contradicts the Qurʾān and the Sunnah.

‎ لكن وُجِدَ بعده بنحو مائة سنة أو أكثر من رأى رأيًا فأخطأ، وهو رجل عالم فاضل،
However, about a hundred years after them, there was someone had an opinion and erred (in it), and he was a knowledgeable and virtuous man.

رأى أن الإيمان يستحيل أن يقبل الزيادة والنقص، وإنما الذي يزيد هو آثاره، وهي الأعمال الصالحة
He saw that it is impossible for Imān to increase and decrease, but only it's effect increases, which are righteous actions.

‎والله - عز وجل - يقول دائمًا وأبدًا أن الإيمان يزيد وبالتالي تزيد الأعمال الصالحة
And Allāh always and forever says that Imān increases thus good deeds increase.

‎ ثم هذا الرأي الذي صدر من بعض أهل العلم اتُّخذ دينًا ، وهذه مصيبة من مصائب المسلمين !
Then, this opinion that was given by some of the people of knowledge was taken as a religion, and this is one of the calamities of Muslims!

كيف اتُّخذ دينا والدين هو الإسلام ، والإسلام هو القرآن ، والقرآن يقول إن الإيمان يزيد وينقص صراحة ، (فزادهم إيمانًا )
How is it taken as a religion whilst the religion is al-Islām, and al-Islām is al-Qurʾān, and the Qurʾān explicitly says that Imān increases and decreases! “فَزَادَهُمۡ إِيمَٰنٗا”.
"But It (only) increased them in Imān"
[Sūrah al-ʿImrān:173]

Ruling of Fasting during Travel - Sheikh Al-Albani

‎وعلى ذلك جاء قوله عليه الصلاة والسلام حينما كان مسافراً، فرأى ناساً قد ظللوا على صاحب لهم
Accordingly is the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, when he was travelling, he saw people shading their companion,

‎كأنه أغمي عليه بسبب صيامه وكان اليوم يوما حارا
as if he had fainted because of his fasting, and it was a hot day.

‎فقال عليه الصلاة والسلام (أولئك هم العصاة ) أي الذين يصومون في السفر ويُعرِّضون أنفسهم لمثل هذه المشقة
He ﷺ said: (Those are the disobedients), meaning those who fast while travelling and expose themselves to such hardship.

‎ فهو عصيان للنبي صلى الله عليه وأله وسلم
So, it is disobedience to the Prophet ﷺ.

‎فإذا كان صيام المسافر لا يُعرّضه لشيء من هذه المشقة فالأمر على ما ذكرته أنفاً، إن شاء صام وإن شاء أفطر.
If the fasting of the traveller doesn't expose him to any of this hardship, then the matter is as I have mentioned before; if he wishes, he fasts and if he wishes, he breaks his fast.

Ruling of the Saying there is No Jannah or Hell-Fire - Sheikh Al-Albani

السائل : بخصوص يعني في مثل هذه المجالس أحياناً يعني يتطرق البعض في بعض الأسئلة عن الدنيا والجنة والنار.
Questioner: Regarding - I mean in gatherings like these sometimes - some people bring up some questions about the Dunya, Jannah, and Hell-Fire.

الشيخ : نعم.
Sheikh: Yes.

السائل : من الجالسين أو من عامة الناس البعض منهم ينكرون الآخرة وينكرون الجنة
Questioner: There are some among those who are in the gathering or people in general who deny the Hereafter and Jannah.

يعني يقولون: أنه إذا مات الميت خلاص راح مات كالكلب، فمثل هذا الرجل أو هذا القائل يعني ما الحكم في ذلك ؟
Meaning, they say: If a person dies, that's it, he is gone, he died like a dog. So, what's the ruling regarding the person who says this?

الشيخ : هذا ليس مسلماً ولا يهودياً ولا نصرانياً ، واليهود والنصارى خيرٌ منه، يعني هذا دهري ، هذا زنديق ملحد، وهو لا يؤمن بالله ولا برسوله،
Sheikh: He is not a Muslim, jew, or a christian. The jews and christians are better than him. I mean he is a Dahri (atheist), a Zindeeq (hypocrite) deviant. He doesn't believe in Allah or His Messenger.

وفي القرآن الكريم (( وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ * قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنْشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ )) ،
And in the Noble Qur'ān (meaning of the ayah)
"And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: "Who will give life to these bones when they have rotted away and became dust?" Say: (O Muhammad ﷺ) "He will give life to them Who created them for the first time! And He is 'Aleem [the All-Knower] of every creation!" [Surah Yā-Sīn: 78,79]

Ruling of Studying in Mixed Universities - Sheikh Al-Albani

هذه امرأة تريد أن تدرس في الجامعة التي يختلط فيها الشباب بالشابات 
This woman wants to study in a university in which men and women mix.

لأجل ماذا لأجل أن تدعو إلى الإسلام تتعلم وتدعو إلى الإسلام
For what reason? To carry out da'wah to Islam. To learn and carry out da'wah to Islam.

فيعود الكلام السّابق هي تحرق نفسها من أجل أن تفيد غيرها
So, we go back to the previous speech,
She burns herself so that she can benefit others;

ترتكب مخالفات شرعية لا مبرر لها لارتكاب هذه المخالفات
She is committing prohibitions of the shari'ah; she has no excuse to commit these prohibited matter.

لأن طلبها العلم في الجامعات اليوم الأصل ما هو فرض عين عليها
That's because seeking knowledge in universities today, fundamentally, is not fardh ayn (an individual obligation) upon her,

حتى تغض النظر عن بعض إيش الأمور التي ليست بمثابة فرض عين
so that she can turn a blind eye to some matters that aren't considered as an individual obligation.

وكل ما يقال أنه هذا يمكن يكون فرض كفائي إذا قام به البعض سقط عن الباقين
At most, what could be said is that this can be a communal obligation;
If some establish it, then the obligation of fulfilling it is taken off from others.

لكن مع ذلك أنا أظن أن الطالبات اليوم يدرسون من العلوم في الجامعات ما ضرره أكثر من نفعه
However, with that, I think that there is more harm than benefit in what female students study in universities nowadays.

فكيف يتخذ هذا وسيلة للدعوة إلى الإسلام
So, how can this be taken as a means for doing da'wah to Islam?

How to Deal with Ahl Al-Sunnah who have Mistakes in the Manhaj - Sheikh Al-Albani

رجل أصوله أصول أهل السنة ويسير على منهجهم وعرف بدفاعه عنهم وخدمته لمنهجهم
Question: A man is fundamentally from Ahl Al-Sunnah. He follows their manhaj and is known for defending them and serving their manhaj.

وتصدر منه أحيانا بعض الأخطاء المنهجية
Sometimes, some mistakes in the manhaj are noticed from him.

فهل يحذر منه بشخصه أم بتبيين أخطائه؟
So, should he be warned against as an individual or by clarifying his mistakes?

الجواب : الأخرى وليست الأولى .
Answer: The latter and not the first.

Ruling of Publicizing the Nikah - Sheikh Al-Albani

السائل :هل يلزم الإشهار في النكاح؟
Questioner: Is it necessary to make ish-har (announce) of the nikah?

الشيخ : يعني هل يجب؟
Sheikh: Do you mean is it obligatory?

السائل : يشهر.
Questioner: To make ish-har, yes.

الشيخ : نعم لأن الرسول قال ( أعلنوا هذا النكاح واضربوا عليه بالدف).
Sheikh: Yes, because the Prophet ﷺ said: Announce this marriage and beat the duff (tambourine) upon it.

سائل آخر : واجعلوه في المساجد "
Another questioner: "And keep them in the masjids"

الشيخ : لا، زيادة "واجعلوه في المساجد" لا تصح. "
Sheikh: No, "keep them in the masjids" is an addition that is not authentic.

Is it Permissble to Read Adhkar on Behalf of One's Child - Sheikh Al-Albani

السؤال: ... بهذه الاذكار يعني ... أن تأتي بالأذكار نيابة عن طفلها
The question: These Adhkār (words of remembrance), can a woman do them on behalf of her child?

الجواب: لا يجوز هذا تنطعا في الدين والرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام كان يقول: هلك المتنطعون
The answer: This is not permissible. This is going extreme in the religion, and the Messenger ﷺ used to say: "Doom is for those who go extreme."

وحسب المسلم أن يقوم بما شرع الله له أو أوجب عليه من مثل هذه الأذكار عن نفسه
It is enough for a Muslim to do what Allāh has legislated for him or made obligatory upon him, like these Adhkār, for himself.

أما عن غيره فلا وبخاصة أن هذا الغير إذا صاحب التعذير وهو الطفل الصغير غير مكلّف
As for doing them on behalf of others, then no, especially when that person is one who is excused, for he is a small child who is not mukallaf (held accountable).

ولذلك فلا يجوز لهذه الأم أن تقرأ هذه الأوراد نيابة عن طفلها غير المكلّف
Therefore, it is not permissible for this mother to read these statements on behalf of her child, who is not mukallaf.

Ruling of Attending Weddings that Have Some Prohibitions - Sheikh Al-Albani

السائل :بالنسبة للأفراح أن يكون أشخاص يلعبون بلوت ويشربون شيشة هل تجب الدعوة يا شيخ؟
Questioner says: in regards to weddings where people play Baloot (a card game) and smoke shisha (Hookah), Is it obligatory to accept their invitation (i.e., attend), O sheikh?

الشيخ : ما يجوز (( فلا تقعد بعد الذكرى مع القوم الظالمين )) .
Shaykh: It is not permissible.
(meaning of the ayah in English): "Then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zālimūn (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
[Surah Al-An'am: 68]

السائل : نقاطعهم
Questioner: Do we cut them off?

الشيخ : آه لكنك إذا حضرت وأنكرت ثم انصرفت تكون جمعت بين تحقيق المصلحة ودفع المفسدة.
Sheikh: However, if you attend and forbid (the munkar), then leave, you would have combined between carrying out the good and preventing the evil.

السائل : وإذا لم نستطع لا نحضر؟
Questioner: And if we are not able to (do that), we shouldn't attend?

الشيخ : نعم.
Sheikh: Yes.

Meaning of the Ayah "Successful Indeed are The Believers" - Sheikh Al-Albani

المصلي الذي صلى الصلاة بكل أركانها وواجباتها ولكنه لم يخشع فيها لله تبارك وتعالى
The one who performs the prayer with all of its arkān (pillars) and wājibāt (obligations), but he did not have khushoo' to Allah the Exalted in it,

نقول إنه صلى لكنه ما صلى
we say he prayed but he didn't pray.

صلى صلاة ظاهرا مقبولة في حكم الشرع الذي علمناه
(meaning,) He prayed an outwardly acceptable prayer according to the islamic ruling that we know.

لكنه ما صلى تلك الصلاة الكاملة التي وصف بها المؤمنون الكمّل في الآية السابقة
However, he did not pray that complete prayer with which the perfect believers have been described in the previous ayah,

وهي قوله عز وجل (( قد أفلح المؤمنون الذين هم في صلاتهم خاشعون ))
(The meaning of the saying of Allah):
"Successful indeed are the believers, Those who offer their Salah (prayers) with khushoo (tranquility and full submissiveness)"
