? Sam Swift, a freshman at Trinity Christian High School, says: "When I was in 6th grade, the media only talked about terrorism when it came to Islam. My parents always said that wasn't the real Islam. I had a Muslim friend named Ali, and at first, I used to make fun of him, but eventually, I decided to ask him questions, and he answered all of them."

Where is my grandmother—Heaven or Hell?" Then, I made some wishes. From that moment on, I kept talking to God. I had thought Islam was only for Asia, Arabia, or Iran, which is why I never studied it. I believed this religion wasn't for Europe or America. However, I always wanted to become Muslim. Years later, I saw news about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, after the 9/11 incident. This made me think deeply about Islam—whether it was good or not. Despite everything, I was eager to learn more about Islam. I cried while watching those news reports, asking God why it had to be this way. I was deeply upset, but my desire to become Muslim grew stronger.

One night during Ramadan, I had a dream. I saw a Sayyid sitting beside me on my left. He told me, "You spoke to God last night. You want to be Muslim, but you think Islam is not for you. You were wrong. Insha'Allah, you will become Muslim, and God will forgive your sins." He handed me a Quran and said, "Let's go outside." He then spoke to my child, saying, "Raise him well, take care of him, and teach him to be Muslim." Suddenly, the man was gone.

I woke up and went to my Muslim neighbor, who was from Turkey, with the Quran in hand, and shared my dream. They were astonished and said, "Tonight is Laylatul-Qadr." A month later, I met an Indonesian woman at the university, told her about my dream, and she gifted me a Quran in Dutch. When I read it, I found peace, and all my sadness disappeared. I truly realized that Islam is the straight and correct path. However, I faced challenges with my family after converting to Islam. My father told me that if I became Muslim, I shouldn't wear the hijab, but I understood that if I was Muslim, hijab was obligatory for me.

Every day, I wore longer clothes. Once, I told my mother that I wanted to wear a full hijab (chador). She cried and asked, "Why do you want to do this?" My mother has a good heart, but she was surprised by the sudden change in my clothing. The next day, she said, "If you want to wear the hijab, I accept it. I love you, and it's okay." But my father was very different from my mother; he was more concerned about what people would think of me. This made it difficult for him. I went to our Muslim neighbors and asked for help. They gifted me a hijab (chador). I called my father and told him that I was now wearing the hijab. He was shocked and said, "Don't wear it, or I won't go out with you." This continued for two weeks. After that, he called me and said, "I want to come to your home and talk about your hijab." He said, "You are my daughter, and I have seen your life. You have endured many hardships. If you are happy, I am happy." From that day on, he was no longer upset, and now we go out together in Holland with my chador, and he has no problem with it (laughing).
