The Asia-Pacific New Materials and Chemistry AES team will collaborate with scientists from major research centers in Asia to produce new materials and chemical compounds in order to meet the Russia’s industrial needs and strengthen its tech leadership.

This new unit of FEFU will be led by a research engineer Maxim Kurakin whose area of expertise lies within collaboration with Russian producers in the research and development field. In his previous role as the project manager of the New Technologies and Materials Science Park at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, he had implemented more than 300 R&D projects with major partners such as Gazprom Neft, TMK, OMK, Severstal and others.

Andrei Sakharov (1921-1989) worked at MEPhI in 1949-1950.

The father of the Soviet hydrogen bomb, Andrei Sakharov, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975 for his opposition to the abuse of power and his work for human rights.

Sakharov revealed his talent for theoretical physics at an early age, and got a doctorate in 1945. From 1948 on, under the supervision of the Nobel Laureate Igor Tamm, he worked on the development of a Soviet hydrogen bomb. Sakharov was patriotic, and believed it was important to break the American monopoly on nuclear weapons. But from the late 1950s on, he issued warnings against the consequences of the arms race.

Description of the scientific project: The project develops a research direction that is relevant for various countries, the results of which are aimed at improving public administration at the level of municipalities, individual regions and entire countries.

Requirements for the candidate (postdoc):

- A PhD or Candidate of Sciences degree obtained on the basis of research in the field of Public Administration (State and Municipal Management)
- Knowledge of the specifics of research in the field of Public Administration
- Publications on topics related to the field of Public Administration

The employment contract is concluded for two years with the possibility of extension (up to 39 years).
Wages - 125 thousand rubles per month, taking into account tax and social deductions.

Expected results (at the end of 2 years):

- 8 publications in first and second quartile journals
- 1-2 patent applications
- Grant applications are welcome

The project aims to address a fundamental scientific problem related to the research and development of efficient semiconductor photovoltaic materials and structures, as well as the study of the mechanics of deformation and failure of multilayer thin-film materials based on semiconductors under non-stationary heating conditions.
