On May 12, two sleeping wallets ??that hadn't made a move in over 10 years, transferred 1000 BTC (about $61 million ?) to new addresses. ??Lookonchain took note of this event. ?

Back on September 12, 2013, the wallet "1DUJuH" received 500 BTC (valued at $62,000 then ?), at a time when the first cryptocurrency ? was priced at $124. ? The following day, the same amount was moved to the "16vRqA" address under similar conditions. ?

These outgoing transactions happened within 20 minutes of each other. ⏰ The close timing suggested that the funds belonged to a single user. ?

One of the 500 BTC transferred sums has been spread out across roughly 200 new addresses. ?

Per Chainalysis and Fortune's April report ?, there are 1.75 million bitcoin wallets ? that have been motionless for over a decade, holding 1,798,681 BTC (around $121 billion at the time the report was published), accounting for 8.5% of all bitcoins minted. ?

This statistic doesn't even include the estimated 30,000 addresses linked to Bitcoin's enigmatic creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. ?️‍♂️

Despite long periods of inactivity, such wallets occasionally spring to life. ? In late March, a wallet dormant for 12 years shifted all its 500 BTC (nearly $35 million), fracturing it into smaller deposits. ?

In April, an inactive wallet for 10 years shed 246 BTC ($17 million), and another 50 BTC (~$3.3 million) stirred after 14 years had passed. ?➡️?‍♂️

Remember, at the start of May, an unknown whale ? shifted 687.33 BTC ($43.94 million at the time of the transaction), which had also been lying dormant for a decade. ⏳?
