THEME↘️****
What artifacts (objects, people, feelings, places, traditions, etc.) have ancestry? How do we identify the past by its roots in the present? How do things grow or erode over time? Consider the word “trace” in all its forms as you write.
*?GUIDELINES*
We are a poetry review, and therefore do not accept any other art forms. Below are our submission guidelines. Expect to hear back from us within a week of submitting.
We are always open for entries. Make sure that all submissions adhere to the current issue’s theme. The deadline for Issue I is September 1st, 2023.
You may submit up to 5 pieces at a time, and any form of poetry is acknowledged. We will only read one submission per issue, so please do not send multiple.

*?RIGHT THE CULTURE*
?Closes tomorrow
We are always on the lookout for new writings focused on the African continent, so send us your work when we make our themed call to submission. Rest assured that we read every submission we receive.
Submissions Guidelines
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Submit your work by filling out all fields below.
We accept strictly essays and articles for now.
Except when solicited, we do not accept submissions that have been published elsewhere.
Because we publish for an online audience, we prefer works that are short, sharp, and exciting. About 500-750 words is fine.
Always include a short bio of yourself.
Here are some of the reasons why we might turn down a submission: poor grammar, poor punctuation, poor use of tenses, and plagiarism. We would especially reject a submission we deem to be misogynist or homophobic, or one that exhibits supremacist leanings on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion.
Be advised that we will edit your work and sometimes change the title, and if we consider the latter, we will inform you.
You retain the copyright to your work. However, we do require that you credit us as the original publisher of the work.
Except on rare occasions, we do not remove pieces that have been published on our site.
If the submission is a response to immediate events in the African context, please email it to [email protected] for immediate consideration.
Further enquiries, including official contacts from publishers and editors, could be sent to [email protected] or [email protected]
