Online Retreat with Ven. Ajahn Anan
22 – 29 March 2025

You are warmly invited to join us for this retreat. Each day will include meditation, chanting, and Dhamma teachings from Ajahn Anan and other members of the Sangha. The meditation sessions will be led by the monks at Wat Marp Jan.
You will also be practicing alongside good friends from around the world, many of whom have found that this shared commitment gives them inner strength, helping them meditate longer and persevere through difficulties.

This is a good opportunity to sincerely cultivate the Noble Path from your own home, developing mindfulness, samādhi, clarity, and wisdom—steadily lightening your burdens and moving ever closer to Nibbāna.

Sabbo ādīpito loko,
sabbo loko padīpito;
Sabbo pajjalito loko,
sabbo loko pakampito.

Akampiyaṁ atuliyaṁ,
aputhujjanasevitaṁ;
Buddho dhammamadesesi,
tattha me nirato mano.

Every world is ablaze with defilements.
Every world is continuously burning with defilements.
Every world is covered with the burning flames of defilements.
Every world is shaken by defilements.

But the Supreme Buddha is unshaken and incomparable.
Noble people associate with him, not ordinary people.
The Supreme Buddha taught me the Dhamma.
That Dhamma always resonates in my mind.

Ārogyaparamā lābhā,
San­tuṭ­ṭhi­paramaṃ dhanaṃ;
Vissāsaparamā ñāti,
Nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ.

Good health is the most precious gain;
Contentment is the foremost wealth.
Trust is the greatest relative;
Nibbāna is the highest happiness.

Buddha's cousin 'Devadatta' is still in saṃsāra. Though he might attain Nibbāna quicker compared to most Buddhist in the world today. During his death, it was predicted that he would become a Paccekka Buddha in the future.

When Chinese Buddhist monk 'Faxian/Fa-Hien' visited India he saw followers of Devadatta known as "Gotamaka". Gotamaka are also referred to in Pali texts. Faxian recorded that the followers of Devadatta honored all the past Buddha except Gautama Buddha.
