Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said,

“Whoever knows himself well, would keep himself busy reforming himself instead of talking about the faults of others.

Whoever knows his Lord, would keep himself busy trying to please Him instead of trying to please himself.”

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 90]

Being in a healthy environment is the biggest contributor to productivity. Otherwise you're just always on survival mode, trying to just exist and be safe with no room to do anything else.

Come as you are.....

With all of your sins..
With all of your faults...
With all of your worries...
With all of your doubts...

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.

BEWARE OF YOUR FRIENDS

Man is upon Religion of his Best Friend
➖➖➖

Allah ﷻ says about Qiyamah,

Close friends will be enemies to one another on that Day, except the righteous [Qur'an 43:67]

The good friends will intercede for their friends, who they see are being punished!
Isn't this reason enough to surround yourself with the good company, company of the righteous?

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:

❝A man is upon the religion of his best friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.❞

[Sunan al-Tirmidhi‌ 2378, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Nawawi]

The regret of those who kept bad company, they will cry out!

وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

And nobody has misguided us except the criminals

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ

now we have no intercessors

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍۢ

Nor a close friend
[Qur'an 26:99-101]

Meaning, they'll be stuck in punishment regretful & woeful that they have no righteous friend

They took the people who were bad influences, who didn't believe in Allah ﷻ, who committed sins openly and invited towards it as close friends!

Another cry of regret from these people is mentioned in Surah Furqan,

يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًۭا

Oh, woe to me!  I wish I had not taken that one as a friend.

لَّقَدْ أَضَلَّنِى عَنِ ٱلذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَآءَنِى

He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me.[QUR'AN 25:28-29]*
