A part of me wanted to suffer and face challenges so that everyone could say: “Look at this man, he never gives up even in hard times. He is truly admirable." However, now my life is about me, about Ismail. About a person who gives love and happiness to others and finds inner freedom by being independent of the world's circumstances.

My life was a puzzle, but I could not find the last missing piece that I had searched for my entire life. I looked for it in everything: in love, in success, in education. I opened a lot of doors to bring this light into my dark life. However, I did not realize that the light was in me.

At the end of our therapeutic trip, I realized that my life isn’t about enduring hard times, sacrificing, or getting hurt to achieve success. It’s not about doing everything just to succeed. Instead, my goals and dreams need to bring joy rather than suffering. If we work really hard without knowing how to recover our resources we won’t get the life we want. We risk falling into a cycle of struggle for the sake of struggle.

For the first time in my life, I couldn’t get enjoyment from things that I did before. Reading books, achieving goals, cooking dishes, running in the park- everything seemed boring. I laid in my bed for five days, trying to figure out what had happened in my life.

The door knocked and I heard my brother say: “Do you want to visit another city with me? Let’s go on a short road trip. You need to get some rest, my brother.”

During the trip, we had a conversation that changed my life profoundly.
