Tyler Andrew Straub, 20, of Uncasville, died unexpectedly in his home on January 13, 2025

Tyler graduated from Montville High School in Oakdale in June 2022. He worked as an usher at Mohegan Sun.

Jennifer Mariah Gonzalez-Smith, 43, of Wolcott, died on January 14, 2025, following “a courageous battle with a very aggressive form of cancer”

1/5/25 - “Jennifer had a tough battle with breast cancer that she miraculously overcame (after several months of radiation and chemo and a unilateral mastectomy). She fought the fight and won, or so it seemed”

“Recently, Jen had a recurrence of her breast cancer in her remaining breast that spread to her lungs, liver, brain, bones, and blood. She also had tumors growing on her ocular nerve that caused her to lose vision in one of her eyes” ??

Jennifer had worked as a LCSW with WCT Behavioral Health, since Dec 2021

Jennifer proudly served in the CT Air National Guard for over 20 years. She rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

7/7/24 - “AJ had a massive heart attack” - went into cardiac arrest, without prior health issues

10/24/24 - “His heart condition worsened rapidly, and he had 6 subsequent hospitalizations. He is currently in the hospital on an Impella device awaiting a heart transplant”

11/1/24 - “AJ and Anna got married at Yale Hospital!” ?
11/15/24 - “AJ had his heart transplant! He is in the CT-ICU recovering”
