In every liberation struggle the same lurid tales are told by the colonisers, of the natives committing beastly acts against women on a mass scale being the most popular. As Harpal Brar notes in his work 'Inquilab Zindabad - India's Liberation Struggle' these stories were hysterically reported by both the British bourgeois press and the church at the time of the First Indian War of Independence in 1857 and the same pattern of lies and wild exaggerations has been used by the French, Germans and US imperialists ever since. Fanon analyses the profound psychological rot in the colonisers mindset that enables them to produce what are, in effect, fantasies of the most debased and vile kind. After all, it is not Lebanon or Iran that is the centre of the global porn industry but Israel and no Arab nation is a bolt hole for the rapists of the western world like the zionist state is. Once you learn how old the story is, how many times the same lie has been told, only then can you break out of the cycle of falling for the trick where the imperialists waves the bloody shirt at you and claims that the natives need to be suppressed for the good of "women and children" of course.

The pager attack shows only that Israel can not go to war against Hezbollah. If they were at all confident in their ability to actually conduct a war then they'd have waited to sabotage their opponents' communications until the last possible moment when it would have gained them the most in terms of creating confusion and chaos. Blowing this now only shows that they have no real intention of carrying out a ground attack.

As for Hezbollah they'll have to learn from this and I'm sure they will. Any supply line that isn't absolutely controlled by you or by rock solid allies is likely to be compromised by the intelligence agencies of US imperialism at some point. I encourage everyone to read the speeches of Keir Starmer. It is an unpleasant task to be sure but he does actually give away what his agenda is, as he did today in his TUC speech. The reason why he spoke so much about "partnership" is because he is giving orders to the trade union leaders. He is telling them that they are expected to control the working class whilst the labour government wages a class war upon the proletariat. This was the role the Wilson-Callaghan government played from 1974 to 1979 and they did it by dividing, misleading and demoralising a working class that had been growing in militancy during the Heath government. Starmer needs a similar service to be done for him now as it was back then by the union leaders. Most of these leaders will happily obey Starmer of course. Workers must learn these lessons though if we are to avoid the same fate that befell us in the 1970s and 1980s.
