Welcome to the Game of Ultra-modern Military Missions Shrouded in darkness, members of an elite military silently approach a dilapidated building. A door shatters, and they enter, advancing without fear, with the anticipation of inevitable close-quarter combat.…

Internal art is 2/3rds done, so on track for early September full PDFs. 2-3 months behind original hope, but could be much worse.
There's an asymetry in structural damage rules. Creature size sets a multiplier from normal damage to structural damage, but all siege engines deal 1/10th structural damage. Archon wants to make the heavy siege engines slower but increase the multiplier, so that ultra heavy artillery is useful in siege but not on the battlefield. No objections were raised, so moving forward with changes.
GM sheets are coming along nicely. Even Alex finds them helpful in running the game.
Alex's pirate campaign is up to 4th level. Maritime encounters are working like this: On trade routes, you roll an encounter per 6 mile hex, but ignore terrain encounters, so mostly see a lot of boats. In non-trade route areas, you get 1 encounter check per 24 mile hex. Typical ship is 96 miles, so 4 checks per day, which matches up with land encounters. Piracy has been great fun for his players.
Omenowl would like the idea of being able to reduce the number of checks. Alex: following a trade route is ~12 checks / day, which is similar to light horses on roads. Most of the time, Alex doesn't even stat out the encounters and it's like "you see several fishing vessels on the horizon" and the players ignore it.
It may be that such a system of fewer rolls could be made, but this is the best way that Alex has been able to come up with so that the erratic whims of the players can be respected. One could do fancy math with Poisson distributions to reduce the number of rolls.
What takes time is generating the merchant mariner vessels. Is it a fleet or single ship? Need to generate crew and treasure carried. Also need a chart to be able to generate the nation owning a vessel so PC pirates can be discerning in who they attack.

Pirate campain naval combat has been a blast. Lots of fun maneuvers with ships and also building up good guy pirate reputation. Campaign started on a high note with a necromantic Weekend at Bernies with the original captain who died of a heart attack.
Elf book has been going slow because of ACKs II work, but it's still coming after Treasure Tome (the next project). Backers will get custom classes, magic items, etc as usual.
After the Elf book then the Pirate book, haven't decided what comes next. Auran Empire setting? Taking ACKS into another genre, like Space ACKS? Kemeshi setting? Smutty romance novel? Auran Empire graphic novel? The kings seem to want Auran Empire novels instead of graphic novels.
ACKS will probably not get an official aerial combat expansion. Even dedicated wargames often simplify aerial combat to the point of ignoring altitude, so Alex isn't inclined to try to figure it out.
Alex will never do another Monstrous Manual. It was a really hard book to write. (It's so over!)
Alex doesn't like the idea of each monster carrying 1d4 sp and so forth. It's not epic for his heroes to be looting gold teeth out of the orc's mouths and checking for copper in their pockets.
We might get gnomes in the Elf book, but not definite yet. Alex doesn't want infravision on players, so he'd want to remove that. Also the illusionist abilities seem out of place since elves don't get that. If gnomes return, they'll be alchemists as dwarves are brewers and elves are magical.

Alex did a really deep dive into dog sledding. He's got rules for hard packed snow, analagous to roads. The rules he's got now can match dog ability scores and breeding to historic Iditarod records. Kings ask: what about reindeer? Maple syrup trade goods?
Alex's dog is suffering from allergies and is trying out many types of food to rule out that. Dog is helping with dog breed rules.
Alex's favorite D&D supplement is either Ravenloft or Dark Sun. Someday would like to write a gothic horror with Guns of War Van Helsing style campaign.
