rub salt into the wound?
*def: make the unpleasant situation worse by reminding someone's failures and faults
ex: I'm living my worst days of my life, please, don't rub salt into my wound by telling my financial situation now*.
Reopen old wounds??
*def: something reminds about unpleasant and unsetting experience in the past that people prefer to forget
ex: People usually post happy moments in the social media, because unpleasant ones reopen old wounds later if they scroll their social media feed.*
Happy children's day, kiddies???
It is better to try something and fail than to try nothing. The result may be the same, but you won't be. We always grow more through defeats than victories.
Some people share the view that parents should have control over their children as far as free time activities are concerned; however, others are more drawn to the idea of giving children freedom to opt for their favorite ones on their own. I personally believe parents should let their children spend their time as they wish.
On the one hand, those who argue that parents should be held accountable to decide which activity for children to be engaged in have a valid reason to support their claim. It has to do with structured learning and supervision. Supporters say that parents who keep their children under control are able to utilize children's space time effectively. This is because adults are more likely to distinguish where their true interests lie or which are valuable and direct to those channels efficiently. Thus, parents' choices would prove advantageous for their children development in the future.
On the other hand, letting children come up with free time activities as they prefer would be more beneficial for them, one of which is an opportunity to foster decision-making skills. When children are open to free choices, they learn to be independent and develop critical thinking, which are integral in their adult life. Alternatively, having their parents choose for them their leisure activities would make them dependent, failing to foster a sense of autonomy later in life.
Additionally, I support those people who are in favor of giving children the right to make their free time activities decisions. This is because parents organizing activities can be inappropriate for their children due to a huge generation gap. The preferences and interests of adults and children tend to differ significantly, and wrong pick-up would ruin children's passions. Should parents direct them to certain activities those children lack interests in, it would cause great fatigue, even mental and physical disorders in the worst-case scenarios.
In conclusion, some individuals consider parents to be responsible for choosing their children's pastimes, providing guidance, and effective learning. Nevertheless, others, including me, are of the opinion that children should do it themselves, for it will encourage them to be independent, and mitigate the wrong choices of parents due to a difference in their interests.
Some people say free time activities for children should be organized by parents. Others say that children should be free to choose what they do in their free time.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
