International Day of Journalists Solidarity

10 September 2024, the Russian House in Dhaka organized a press conference with young media workers dedicated to the International Day of Journalists Solidarity.
In his welcoming speech, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka P. Dvoychenkov noted that every year on this significant day, an annual press conference is organized together with representatives of the Bangladeshi media and the Russian House deeply appreciates the support in promoting activities through the media.

In commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity of Journalists, we recognize the challenges faced by journalists around the world – the risks they face, the pressures they endure, and the sacrifices they make for the sake of their profession. We stand in solidarity with them in advocating for their safety, freedom, and the right to work without fear or preference.

He also highlighted that the Russia House in Dhaka is committed to supporting a free and dynamic media sphere and that open dialogue and the promotion of mutual understanding are prerequisites in today's interconnected world.

He recalled that every year the Russian House organises the participation of Bangladeshi citizens in the New Generation programme of short-term study visits to Russia and other events. In October-November 2023, seven media representatives took part in two visits of the program, about ten journalists took part in the World Youth Festival held in March 2024.

The journalists participating in the meeting expressed their gratitude to Russia for the capabilities of the New Generation program.

In the second part of the event, a screening of the Russian family comedy film "Cheburashka", directed by Dmitry Dyachenko was organized.

The film "Cheburashka" is a bright and colorful return of a character loved by many generations to the big screens. Bright and colorful landscapes, as well as catchy melodies, create a unique atmosphere and leave a pleasant impression.
The film is filled with humor, kindness and warmth. The film gives unforgettable emotions and impressions and reminds of the importance of friendship, kindness and mutual assistance.

The press conference was attended by more than 50 media representatives representing television channels, print and online media in Bangladesh. ? Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions following the 21th Doha Forum, 10 December 2023

Read in full

? The domination of the “collective West” was based on diverse history including ruthless exploitation of peoples and territories of other countries.

On the basis of this five hundred years, the US & its allies built the model of globalization, which they believed would serve THEM well to continue to be number one in economy, in military exercises, in culture, politics, and so on and so forth. And they thought that they would be using this globalization scheme to continue their domination.

However, other countries, using exactly the principles and instruments of the western globalization, managed to beat the West on its own turf, building economies on the basis of national sovereignty, on the basis of balance of interests with other countries.

<...>

We see this process very much underway, which is clearly changing the balance of power in the world, and not to the West liking.

This is especially seen in various conflicts which the West ignites all over the world. Everything goes to keep the hegemony.

<...>

The analysis of all these events raises a question: is there a single place where the US intervened with military force, where life has become better?

I think you know the answer ? Ruined statehood, human tragedies, and bleak prospects for the future of the countries where the Americans & NATO interfered.

<...>

We have to accept the existence of new organizations, new formats, new structures like #BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, #ASEAN, #AfricanUnion, and many subregional organizations in Africa, CELAC and subregional groups in Latin America. They are going to be the bricks of the new polycentric world. This must be recognized as an objective course of history and this must be respected. This is something which we actually miss when we analyse the modern Western diplomacy. But this is for the West to draw conclusions.

The 52nd anniversary of Bangladesh's Great Victory Day was organized by the Russian House in Dhaka.

Russian House in Dhaka, Bangladesh National Museum and Muktijudda Academy Trust jointly organized a special discussion, cultural programs and honoring of the brave freedom fighters on the occasion of celebrating the 52nd anniversary of Bangladesh's Great Victory Day.
This event was held at the National Museum of the Capital on the morning of December 9, 2023. On this occasion, the organizers honored a total of 84 freedom fighters, including 52 brave freedom fighters on the battlefield and the background artist soldiers of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
Russian House in Dhaka director Pavel Dvoichenkov; Director General of Bangladesh National Museum, Md. Kamruzzaman; Muktijudda Academy Trust Chairman, Dr. Abul Kalam Azad; Former Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Taj Mohammad, brave freedom fighter; Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh-Freedom Fighter Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Haque; and Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Global Village-Freedom Fighter Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan were present as guests on the occasion.
The program started with the performance of the National Anthem by all.
The director of the Russian House in Dhaka, Mr. Pavel Dvoychenkov inaugurated the event. Congratulating everyone on the victory, he said in his speech that the Great Victory Day of Bangladesh is a day of glory for both our countries. This day reminds us of our historic victory. Bangladesh-Russia friendly relations are historical. On the day of the 1971 revolution, the Soviet Union stood by Bangladesh. The relationship between the two countries was developed by supporting Bangladesh in the liberation war. Since then, Russia has been working for the economic development of Bangladesh. Russia helped build large industries and power plants.

The journey of this historic relationship started with the official visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the Soviet Union in 1972.
Intergovernmental agreements on economic and technical cooperation, trade representation, cultural, educational, and scientific cooperation were signed during Bangabandhu's visit.

At the request of Bangabandhu, the Soviet Navy, with the direct cooperation of the then Soviet Government, deactivated the Chittagong port and made the port fully operational. During the visit, at the special request of Bangabandhu, a large number of students from Bangladesh in the then Soviet Union went to study in Russia with full government scholarships. Later they returned to the country and became active in the formation of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla. Among them, more than 6,000 Soviet and Russian graduates are currently working and holding high positions in Bangladesh and various countries around the world.

He also said that the Russian government has increased the number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students to 124 in the academic year 2024-2025 due to the increasing interest of Bangladeshi students in pursuing higher education in Russia. He also assured that he would continue his efforts to increase the number of these scholarships in the future. The Russian House in Dhaka is working hard to promote higher education opportunities in Russia as well as Russian language courses for Bangladeshi students.

Director General of the Bangladesh National Museum, Md. Kamruzzaman, said the Liberation War is a memorable chapter in the history of our nation. Our brave freedom fighters have shown outstanding bravery in this war. We are eternally grateful to them for their contribution.

Chairman of Muktijudda Academy Trust, Abul Azad, said freedom fighters are the best children of our nation. It is our duty to respect them. Through this program we want to show respect and gratitude to our brave freedom fighters.
After the discussion, a cultural program was organized. Liberation War songs and poems were performed on the occasion. The freedom fighters present at the event shared their experiences and feelings.

⚡️Russian presidential elections will be held on March 17 - resolution of the Russian Federation Council

1 year, 2 months ago

I would like to cite a Western source. The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates this year’s wheat harvest in Ukraine at 22.5 million, a 32 percent decrease compared with the 2021/2022 crop year, and at 19 million tonnes in 2023/2024. Exports will fall to 10 million tonnes, the British publication reports. Unfortunately, their report failed to mention the fact that the Ukrainian soil is now contaminated with radioactive waste from the depleted uranium shells supplied by the UK. They have been supplying the Kiev regime with such munitions for months, as we have said repeatedly. This has been confirmed by the background radiation measurements. This has a direct bearing on the quality of agricultural products grown in the territory of Ukraine. It is a pity that British, American, Canadian and EU publications fail to mention this.
At the same time, Russia continues to responsibly and conscientiously fulfil its obligations under international contracts involving agricultural goods, fertilisers, energy resources and other critical products. We are well aware of the importance of supplies of socially significant goods, including food, for the socioeconomic development of Asian, African, Latin American and Middle Eastern countries, as well as for food security and the achievement of the SDGs.
This approach has been confirmed by the initiatives put forward by President Vladimir Putin to transfer tens of thousands of tonnes of Russian fertilisers (seized in European ports) and grain (25,000-50,000 tonnes each to countries in need such as Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic, and Eritrea). At the same time, Russia is actively exploring alternative ways of supplying food to the poorest countries in order to compensate them for the damage caused by the forced suspension of the Black Sea Initiative.
Let me remind you that all the problems with the Black Sea Initiative have been caused by the illegitimate, illegal and immoral sanctions imposed by the US and the EU, as well as countries that joined these sanctions against our country or adopted them in the same unilateral manner under pressure from the United States.
