:قال الإمام ابن القيم رحمه الله
"وهل في الدنيا والآخرة شر وداء إلا سببه الذنوب والمعاصي؟!"
[الداء والدواء (٤٨ - ٤٩)]
Take your religion from the scholars and the known students of knowledge who have been praised by Shaykh Rabi', Shaykh 'Ubayd, Shaykh Falah etc.
Not these 'students of knowledge ‘who have barely been upon the manhaj of the salaf al salih for a year but want to speak on the affairs of the elders.
Muhammad Ibn Sirin رحمه الله said :
"Indeed this knowledge is Religion, so look from whom you take your Religion ." [Muqadimmah Sahih
Muslim]

We call you to those who have been recommended by the scholars, they call you to
themselves. There's a difference.

Focus on knowledge.
Don't waste time arguing and debating on social media.
The Imam of the Sunnah, our Shaykh Muqbil b . Hadi al-Wadi'i said:
"Is it better to read a newspaper from the beginning to the end, or memorize a page of the Quran?
My brothers, focus, focus on seeking knowledge. Some of our scholars would read his book while walking in the street.
They understood the importance of knowledge, and Allah raised them.
They understood the importance of the Sunnah, and Allah raised them.
I ask Allah to preserve our religion for us, and to bless us to die as Muslims."

قال الشيخ عبيد الجابري رحمه الله
“They used to say [in the time of the Salaf] Test the people of Madinah by asking them about Mālik (died 179H); test the people of Syria by asking them about Al-Awzā‛ee (died 157H); test the people of Egypt by asking them about Layth Ibn Sa’d (died 175H); test the people of Mawsul by asking them about Al-Mu‛āfah Ibn ‛Imrān (died 185H).And this era the men are tested by asking them about Shaykh Rabee’ (may Allah preserve him). And this is not an exaggeration or excessiveness concerning him – refuge is with Allah. However, it is as Imām Abu Hātim (died 264H) رحمه الله said:“From the signs of Ahlul-Bid‛ah is their reviling the People of Narrations.” **(Al-Lālikā’ee 1/139)
So indeed from the signs of Ahlul-Bid‛ah in these times is their reviling of Shaikh Rabee’, for Ahlul-Bid‛ah are united upon hatred of him, just as Ahlus-Sunnah are united upon their love of him.”**Abukhadeejah.com
Who Should Be Your Companion? — Golden Advice from Sufyan Ath-Thawree
Advice of Sufyan Al-Thawree رحمه الله said to Alee ibn Al-Hasan As-Sulamee:
“Your companion should be the one who prevents you from being preoccupied with things of the worldly life that will divert you from Allah, and one who makes you desire and work for the Hereafter.
Beware of accompanying people who make the dunyah their goal, those who are engrossed in speaking about the worldly life; indeed they will corrupt your religion and your heart.
Remember death much, and seek a lot of forgiveness from what has passed of your sins, and ask Allah for safety for what remains of your life.”

The Imãm, Shaykh Abd al Aziz ibn Baz رحمه الله said:
"So your brother is the one who advises you, reminds you, and alerts you. Your brother is not the one who gives you no thought, avoids you, or speaks to you with pretty words that lack real truth and sincerity.
Rather, your brother, in reality, is the one who advises you, the one who admonishes you, and reminds you. He calls you to Alläh, keeps explaining to you the path to deliverance clearly until you follow it, and warns you about the path to destruction - he keeps explaining to you how evil its end is until you avoid it."
