{ حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا }
[سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٣٢]

Gardens and grapevines.

{ إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا }
[سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٣١]

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment (1) -

(1): Of security, success and reward, including escape and safety from Hell.

{ فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا }
[سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٣٠]

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." (1)

(1): This announcement will be made to the companions of Hell.

﴿وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا﴾ [سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٧]

And the mountains as stakes? (1)

(1): To stabilize the land and balance the earth.

﴿أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا﴾ [سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٦]

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

﴿ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ﴾ [سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٥]

Then, no! They are going to know.

﴿لِكُلِّ امرِئٍ مِنهُم يَومَئِذٍ شَأنٌ يُغنيهِ﴾ [عبس: ٣٧]

(37) For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.[1863]

[1863]- i.e., to occupy him. He will be concerned only with himself, thus forgetting all others.

﴿وَصاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنيهِ﴾ [عبس: ٣٦]

(36) And his wife and his children,

﴿وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبيهِ﴾ [عبس: ٣٥]

(35) And his mother and his father

﴿مَتاعًا لَكُم وَلِأَنعامِكُم﴾ [عبس: ٣٢]

(32) [As] enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
