For anyone that may be interested a couple of walks have been arranged for the weekend between Christmas and New Year and also after New Year's Day. Details are below.
"RED PILLED RAMBLERS" Walk - Saturday, 28th December 2024. Meeting from 10.00am for a prompt start at 10.30am. Kathryn & Malcolm, SITP Preston and Community Assembly of Lancashire have arranged an 8 mile walk starting from Roddlesworth Information Centre, Tockholes Road, Darwen BB3 0PA. Toilets available at start & finish. The walk will be up to Darwen Tower and will include Sunnyhurst Wood, Earnsdale & Roddlesworth Reservoirs. Total ascent of 950 ft and descent of 925 ft. Mainly good tracks, but there are some muddy sections. Please bring packed lunch, if required. A cafe is available at the start which opens from 10.00am. There is the Royal Arms public house that serves food upon our return, or alternatively we can go to the Hare & Hounds, 129 Bolton Road, Abbey Village, Chorley PR6 8DP which is a en-route back to the M65 Motorway.

Kathryn & Malcolm, Preston Stand in the Park, Community Assembly of Lancashire have arranged a 9 mile walk. Starting from St Oswald's Church, 92 Main Street, Warton, Carnforth LA5 9PG, where there is a Coffee & Cake Morning 10.00am to 12.00pm. If we are not outside, we will be having coffee and cake in the Church (proceeds to the Church). Public Toilets are available between Warton Church Hall & The George Washington Hotel. The walk will be visiting Leighton Hall, RSPB Leighton Moss, Jenny Brown's Point and Warton Crag, on mainly good tracks, but also some roads with a height gain of approximately 1000 feet. Refreshments and Toilets are available at RSPB Leighton Moss. If required, please bring packed lunch. We will be ending the walk at the Old School Brewery & Canteen where refreshments will be available.
NB Limited Free Parking is available on Crag Road approximately 50 yards from Main Street and adjacent to the Old School Brewery & Canteen. Alternatively, there is on-street parking on Main Street etc.
