A friend recently said to me, “How can I expect someone else to understand me when I often don’t understand myself?” This struck a chord with me. I don’t know anyone who truly understands the ever-changing, wild nature of the self.

To understand the self is like trying to define the ocean—it is an endless odyssey, both terrifying and terrific.
Yes, through healing we attempt to grasp the personal self shaped by our experiences, traumas, and conditions. But what about the transpersonal Self, the one we encounter during deep meditation or while in metaphysical experiences? If you've ventured into these spaces, you likely realize how much will stay in the unknown.

Returning to my friend’s point, it seems almost absurd to expect someone else to truly see and reflect all that we are when we ourselves are still catching only glimpses.

So, how do we fulfill our need to be seen and known without grasping externally and placing too much responsibility on our partners, family, and friends?
Ironically, to feel truly seen, you might need to close your eyes.

Next Wednesday night at The Hook Up, I’ll be leading a group into the darkness. Together, we’ll close our eyes and connect with our spirit guides. These guides may appear in various forms—or none at all—and they might communicate through words, feelings, or visions.

No matter how it unfolds, the intention of our gathering is for you to leave with that very special, oh-so-lovely feeling of being a little more seen and loved.
