Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:
‎“The heart is opened by showing kindness to the creation and benefiting them with various acts of kindness, such as wealth and physical efforts. Generosity expands the heart and cures the soul, while stinginess constricts the heart.”[One Hundred Pieces of Advice | Pg. 46]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
‎“Your nafs is just like your enemy, once it finds you serious, it obeys you. If it finds weakness from you, it will take you as a prisoner.”

Al-Fuḍayl ibn ʻIyāḍ رحمه الله said:

“Humility is to humble yourself to the truth and to submit to it, even if you hear it from a child, you accept it from him, and even if you hear it from the most ignorant of people, you accept it from him!”

Ikhwāni wa akhawāti fillah, look at what is going on in Gaza right now, look at the strikes on Idlib, look at all of our brothers and sisters in prison and oppressed. Look at the state of heedlessness and blindness that the Ummah has been in for so many years.

Brothers and sisters, ask yourself some questions: is it time to be engaging in trivial matters? Is it time to be submerged in idle talk? Is it time to be private messaging and interacting with the non-mahārim of the opposite gender? Is it time to have grudges against your brothers and sisters in Islam? Is it time to leave the righteous companionship for some play and fun? It’s never time to do any of these things, but during these times one should feel even more guilt if they engage in these matters.

Are we not Muslimīn/Muslimāt? Are we not part of this Ummah? Shouldn’t we be doing everything in our capacity to serve this body? Do you know that our sins affect this Ummah, as Allah عز وجل does not change the affairs of a people until they change what is in themselves? I understand that this is easier said than done, some things make us feel an extra sense of pleasure and are difficult to leave.

I am nobody to advise, I know myself and I know that I have my many mistakes and faults. But at least, for the sake of Allah, put it in your mind that after reading this you will reflect and work on improving yourself. May Allah سبحانه assist us all in giving up things for His sake
