The Russian House in Trivandrum celebrated the Day of Slavic Letters and Culture by organising a seminar on the history of Slavic Culture in Russia. Secretary of the Indo-Russian History Council, Dr N. Gopakumar, spoke about the difference between East Slavs and West Slaves.
Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor of the Department of History, University of Kerala, Dr Robinson Jose, said that before becoming known to the Roman world, Slavic-speaking tribes were part of the many multi-ethnic confederacies of Eurasia. He said that Slavs are people who live by nature and their rhythms.
The Honorary Consul of Russia and Director of the Russian House in Trivandrum Ratheesh Nair said people's existence will become more tenuous when they are forced to move away from their roots, traditions, and even their beliefs. This is one reason behind the instability in some parts of East Europe.
