The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Tigray Regional Office convened a successful SEED program stakeholder meeting in Mekelle on October 17, 2024.

The ICT Innovation competition for women startup founders, organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) in collaboration with various partners, concluded successfully today. A total of 37 women innovators participated in the event, presenting their technological innovations and entrepreneurial projects.

The closing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Belete Molla, Minister of Innovation and Technology, who emphasized the critical role of women in driving the nation's economic growth. He noted that excluding women from technological opportunities impedes overall national progress.

The competition aimed to increase digital engagement among women, providing an exclusive platform for female entrepreneurs to compete and gain support. Mr. Solomon Soka, State Minister of Labor and Skills, underscored the importance of encouraging women to take the lead in sectors like e-commerce, education, and healthcare, where they often encounter unique challenges.

Dr. Hasen Hussen, CEO of the EDI, also addressed the gathering, assuring the participants that they would receive ongoing support to help develop and expand their innovative projects.

The event represents a significant milestone in empowering women in the fields of technology and innovation, reinforcing the commitment to fostering inclusive growth in Ethiopia's digital economy.
