After merging into the divine, how does the soul retain its identity and some karma?
There is not one opinion on this. One school of thought says that it just merges. Other school of thought says there is little identity that remains. I feel both are correct. Like when salt dissolves in water, salt disappears. But when you evaporate water, you can take out the salt. If you see from a perspective of an individual identity, you will be thoroughly confused.

I am a class ten student. I will appear for my boards. I face dilemmna between my parents expectations and my own goals. What to do?
You are in class ten. Go by parents. They are wise. They want the best for you. Let your interest grow in the back. It will come up. You should have multiple talents. This is the time when you dont have to choose between things. A gentleman in Maharashtra had forty degrees. You can have many qualifications. Look at Rakesh, the head security guards. He is a karate black belt and an mba and gold medalist in exercise. And he is v young.

Industries are looking for skilled labor and students with academic degree are looking for high paying jobs. They find it unattractive to join vocational jobs like construction even if they pay more than desk jobs. Pls advise.
This is an issue in our country. We have an issue of dignity of work which you dont find in any other country. Every job should be respected and it deserves that respect. Every profession must be honored.

Never mind if you have failed in the past, dont make it a concept that you will fail every time. If laziness is an obstacle, get rid of it with yoga and pranayama.

Forget what is sin and merit. Work without expectations. Be in bliss and keep working. So much has happened in the past - right and wrong, yet life has kept on moving. Let go of the past and go ahead. If you dont stir the halwa with the kharchi, it gets stuck. Likewise in every situation of life, take the kharchi of knowledge.

How to maintain the longing for the Divine? We often get disturbed in certain situations and become sad.
Are you not finding the divinity attractive? Are these situations more attractive? Play as much as you want. You will have to get fres from these in the end.
