Chinese AI startup DeepSeek is "breaking" the AI market 🏆

Not so long ago, a real competitor of OpenAI appeared on the market - Chinese startup DeepSeek, which according to many benchmarks already outperforms ChatGPT from OpenAI and Claude from Anthropic (at least in terms of price/result ratio).

💴 In addition, DeepSeek spends $2.19 per 1mln tokens, while OpenAI spends $60 for the same number of tokens! That is a 96% cost savings 🧐
Chinese engineers have managed to rethink the approach to AI system design, thus making AI models much cheaper to run.

Now you can run a productive LLM locally on your PC with just a gaming GPU 🎮
For example, using LM Studio by downloading a model from Hugging Face locally, and it's absolutely free!

If it used to seem like OpenAI had a steady monopoly on AI, that's no longer the case. But I'm sure that OpenAI is well aware of all the risks created by the arrival of a new competitor and is working hard to make DeppSeek's innovations available to everyone publicly (after all, it is open-source with open source code)! 🔥

💻 Many have argued before that AI hardware stocks of campaigns like NVidia are showing signs of a bubble. It wasn't too long ago that this campaign's capitalization was glowing at the top. But what happens next, time will tell. There will probably be a pullback. Or maybe NVidia's strategy will adjust towards providing quality software solutions based on their GPUs.

👍 I'm glad that the AI market is also developing a plurality of solutions, which definitely moves the sphere in the right direction - cheap, universally available infrastructure, on the basis of which it is possible to build sustainable and relatively cheap AI systems.

P.S. I wonder if domestic solutions such as GigaChat and YandexGPT will be able to utilize DeepSeek's developments? 🤷

💻 Многие и ранее утверждали, что акции на ИИ-железо таких кампаний как NVidia имеют признаки пузыря. Ещё недавно капитализация этой кампании светилась в топе. Но что будет дальше, покажет время. Вероятно, будет откат. Или, быть может, стратегия NVidia скорректируется в сторону предоставления качественных программных решений на базе их GPU.

👍 Меня радует, что и на рынке ИИ развивается плюрализм решений, который однозначно двигает сферу в нужном направлении - дешевой доступной повсеместно инфраструктуре, на основе которой можно строить устойчивые и относительно дешевые системы ИИ.

P.S. Интересно, смогут ли использовать наработки DeepSeek отечественные решения, такие как GigaChat и YandexGPT? 🤷
