💯 Miscellaneous Benefits from Yemen

BENEFIT 106: If someone has gold that does not reach the threshold for Zakāh, but also has money, should the value of the gold be combined with the money to pay Zakāh?

This is one of the problematic issues in the rulings of Zakah. Is cash combined with gold or silver to complete the threshold for Zakah?

When we were studying the book relating to the rulings of Zakah with our Sheikh Zaaid Al-Wasabi - may Allāh preserve him - he said to me:
هذه من المسائل التي لازلت أبحث عنها، وفي نفسي منها شيء.اهـ
"This is one of the issues that I am still researching, and I am undecided."

And what seems correct - and Allāh knows best - is that it they are not combined, and this is the view chosen by our Sheikh, Yahya Al-Hajuri, may Allāh preserve him. So I asked our Sheikh Yahya, may Allāh preserve him, about a person who owns 70 grams of gold and also owns cash. If he were to combine it with the gold, it will reach the threshold for Zakah and even exceed it, does he have to pay Zakah?

He answered - may Allāh preserve him:
لا يجب عليه، ولا تضم الأوراق النقدية مع غيرها لتكملة النصاب ، لكن لو كان معه أكثر من عملة (مثلا: سعودي-دولار- يمني) فإنه يضمها إلى بعض لتكلمة النصاب ، فالأوراق النقدية (العملات) بمختلف أنواعها تضم إلى بعضها .اهـ
‟It is not obligatory for him [to combine between the two]. Cash is not combined with other assets to complete the threshold. However, if he has more than one currency (for example: Saudi, US dollar, Yemeni), then he combines them together to complete the threshold, as cash (currencies) of different types are combined together.”

💯 Miscellaneous Benefits from Yemen

BENEFIT 105: Ankle to ankle should not look like this ( / \ )

Sheikh Bā Jammāl was asked regarding standing feet to feet in prayer, so he ḥafidhahullāh said:

“What's also required in terms of facing [the Qiblah] in the prayer is, i.e. it's recommended to face the toes towards the Qiblah [when standing in prayer] just as it's recommended to face them towards the Qiblah during Sujūd. So when they are facing the Qiblah, this is the standard in terms of standing feet to feet. You should not bend the feet like the number 8 (/ ), nor like the number 7 (\ /), but rather they should be set like the number 11 (| |).”

On this day, the third of Ramaḍān, of the year 1445 AH, the esteemed Sheikh ’Abdullāh ibn Ṣāliḥ Al-Qaṣayyir, may Allāh have mercy on him and elevate his status, has passed away.

To Allāh belongs what He takes, and to Him belongs what He gives, and everything has an appointed term with Him. May Allāh grant solace to the Salafis in their loss, and we ask Allāh to replace Islām and the Muslims with what is better.

Sheikh ’Abdullāh was known for his strong adherence to Salafiyyah and his sword [ever-ready] against innovators, being among the few who staunchly defended the truth in this era.

Regarding the statement that slipped from him against our Sheikh Muqbil Al-Wādi'i, may Allāh have mercy on him, we ask Allāh to pardon him for it, and he had instructed to remove it from all his channels.

Abū Muḥammad Az-Zu’kari ḥafidhahullāh

💯 Miscellaneous Benefits from Yemen

BENEFIT 103: Raḥimahullāh

It is quite common among students of knowledge to say 'raḥimahullāh' (May Allāh have mercy upon him) when speaking about a righteous person who has passed away. In fact, this has become so common that if you were to say 'raḥimahullāh' in reference to someone who is still alive, many students will correct you and tell you to say 'ḥafidahullāh' (May Allāh preserve him) instead.

Sheikh Khaleel Al-'Udaini ḥafidhahullāh said that it is okay to say 'raḥimahullāh' when speaking about someone who is still alive. And the proof for this is:

Narrated Abu Hurairah raḍhiyallāhu 'anhu: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If anyone of you sneezes, he should say 'Al-Ḥamdu lillāh' (Praise be to Allah), and his (Muslim) brother or companion should say to him, 'Yarḥamukallāh' (May Allah bestow his Mercy on you). When the latter says 'Yarḥamukallāh', the former should say, 'Yahdīkumullāh wa Yuṣliḥ bālakum' (May Allah give you guidance and improve your condition). [Bukhari, 6224]

Another proof:

Narrated Abu Hurairah raḍhiyallāhu 'anhu: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood up for the prayer and we too stood up along with him. Then a bedouin shouted while offering prayer. “O Allah! Bestow Your Mercy on me and Muḥammad only and do not bestow it on anybody else along with us.” When the Prophet (ﷺ) finished his prayer with Taslim, he said to the Bedouin, “You have limited (narrowed) a very vast (thing),” meaning Allah's Mercy.
[Bukhari, 6010]

The Prophet ﷺ did not censure him for invoking mercy upon someone who was still alive, he only criticised him for restricting this invocation.
