Each year on June 20, World Refugee Day reminds us of the hardships endured by people who must leave their homes and seek protection in secure societies. To help refugees, we must make sure the process of accepting them is effective on two main levels; first, providing the best possible security, protection and aid for the refugees themselves, and second, maintaining the stability of our own systems in order to ensure the security of all.

To achieve these goals, knowledge about Political Islam and its practical application in the asylum process is crucial. It is important to understand the Islamic concept of Hijra and also to be able to recognize it. In short, Hijra is Islamic political migration where the civilian population is being used for the purpose of submitting Kafir (non-Islamic) societies under the rule of Islamic doctrine.

Historically, Hijra was the emigration of Mohammed and his followers from Mecca to Medina, and this event is so significant for Islam that Hijra marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Before Hijra, Islam was on the brink of extinction before it ever really started, since after 10 years of preaching in Mecca, Mohammed was only able to recruit 150 followers. This changed when he and his followers went to Medina. It was Hijra that started the process of leading all of Arabia to submit to Islamic rule in just nine years. (1) How did Mohammed manage that?

Historical Hijra in 622
After emigrating to Medina, Mohammed established a mosque. The Mosque was used for religious practice and education, political/war strategy gatherings, armament storage, and as a home compound for Mohammed’s family.

As a next step, Mohammed set a basis of law and governance (2), dividing the people of Medina into Muslims and Kafirs. Different rules were prescribed for Muslims and Kafirs, thus establishing the principle of duality as a fundamental part of the Islamic doctrine and law. Also, the Islamic community, the Umma, were to be friends to one another but not to Kafirs. (3)

Mohammed introduced Jihad as an effort for the cause of Allah, which justified and supported using violence to promote the submission of Kafirs to Islamic dominion. After many successful battles and raids, Mohammed and his followers conquered Mecca, took over the Kaaba, the sacred center of Arabian polytheism, and made it exclusively the holy place of Islam. When Mohammed died, all of Arabia was under Islamic rule. (4)

Success of Hijra Replicated ever after
Mohammed’s example of the migration process from Mecca to Medina is a prototype for Islamic political migration. (5) Hijra begins with limited migration to the host country. Then, a mosque and/or an Islamic organization is set up, with representatives to interact with the Kafir society, meeting local Kafir groups and engaging in proselytizing (dawa) and politics, later monopolizing the information source about Islam for media.

Violent jihad against the Kafir increases. Meanwhile, Islamic politics in all its forms insinuates itself into the host country’s power structure, gains political offices and advocates for the Islamic way of life, such as Halal food in public institutions and prayers in schools.

Hijra affects the entire non-Islamic society, for its goals are to revive jihad, (6) strengthen Islamic political influence, and establish Islamic representatives as authority over information on Islam in the host country. The ultimate goal of Allah and Mohammed is for all people to submit to the Sharia and Islamic rule (7).

Hijra has proven itself to be an effective means to transport political ideas across borders. We must understand the development of the Hijra as a pattern followed by Political Islam if we are to defend our societies and preserve our heritage.

Taliban Returning to Sharia Demonstrates Gravity of Mohammed

The recent announcement of the Taliban leaders in Afghanistan that they are reintroducing public stoning of women for adultery (1) as it is prescribed by the Islamic doctrine, clearly demonstrates the phenomenon in Islamic societies known as the "Gravity of Mohammed."

In the wake of their takeover of power in Afghanistan in September 2021, the Taliban had declared they wanted to respect both women's rights and human rights to a certain extent. However, as the recent announcement shows, the Islamic doctrine, when applied in an Islamic society without external (Kafir) influence, tends to get rid of any remains of non-Islamic impurities inherited from the previous era.

The "Gravity of Mohammed" means that over time, Islamic societies tend to get back to the pure authority of Allah as expressed through the Koran, and the example of Mohammed as captured in the Sira and Hadith. When it comes to the Islamic political doctrine, there is no such thing as moderate, conservative, liberal, fundamentalist or extremist Islam. What there is, is just one Islamic doctrine and various extents to which the individual groups or societies tend to adhere to it. The Gravity of Mohamed rule, as demonstrated by the recent statement of the Taliban in Afghanistan, shows that the tendency is always towards ever more of the doctrine.

The primary Islamic doctrine (Koran, Sira and Hadith) devotes 51% of its text to Kafirs (non-Muslims) and how to treat them. This part of the doctrine is therefore political, not religious; thus, it is called Political Islam.

The word “Kafir” is not neutral; rather, it is a very negative expression. The Kafir is hated by Allah, and Mohammed fought with Kafirs and tried to force them into submission to Islamic dominion. "Kafir" is actually the word that best defines what Political Islam is.

No historical records exist of victims of the "jihad of purification" (2) within the Islamic community itself, but the almost 45,000 violent jihadi attacks since 9/11 (3) have caused a high number of casualties (4).

Therefore, it is ethical and rational to raise awareness about Political Islam as well as to reject its division of the world into Muslims and Kafirs, who are called the “worst of all creatures” (Koran 98:6) (5).

The politics of Islam prove problematic to Kafir (non-Muslim) women, as its doctrine violates non-Islamic laws and systems, which are based on the principles of equality.

There are two sections of the Koran (Meccan and Medinan); this allows the doctrine to consider women in a dualistic way. There are verses that praise the mother above all men and say that women and men will be judged equally as to their actions on Judgment Day. At the same time, 71% of the Koran text about women states that a woman has a lower status than a man. In the Hadith, 89% of the text about women states that a woman has lower status than a man.

According to Islamic doctrine, every woman is lower than a man, and every Kafir woman is lower than a woman who follows Islam. Also, a Kafir woman can be used as a sex slave and raped; this is morally acceptable in Political Islam, as Mohammed himself had non-Islamic captives whom he used as sex-slaves.

We do not accept what Islamic doctrine considers normal practices, like child marriage, the abuse and oppression of women, slavery, violence, and harming others for their sexual orientation.
