Hisham bin Urwah reported that his father ie: Urwah bin Az-Zubayr -may Allah be pleased with him- said:

“When you see a man engage in a righteous action , know that there are sister-righteous actions to that with him; a good action points to other good actions.

So also is the case when you see him engage in an evil action , know there are other sister-evil actions to that with him;

An evil action points to other evil actions .”

Shaykh Salih Ibn Fawzan Al-Fawzan -may Allah have mercy on him- said:

“It is possible for any person to buy an amount of books and read them, but that doesn’t benefit anything - it harms more than it benefits.

Let’s give an example, if you felt an illness, do you go to the pharmacy and pick up any random medicine from it? Or do you go to the doctor first so he can diagnose the type of illness and prescribe the appropriate medicine? All of that is done fearing you may take harmful medicine that is not appropriate, which may harm or kill you. Similarly with knowledge, you must go to the specialists in it and take from them, and do not suffice with just books for fear of falling into misguidance, and being affected by what is in some of them from doubts.”

“What is it?” He replied: “Jawarish.” Ibn Umar asked: “What is Jawarish?” He replied: “It helps you digest your food.”

So, Ibn Umar said to him: “I have not filled my stomach in forty years. So what will I use it for?”
