It's probably worth knowing that the PLA universities recruit Western scientists relentlessly, most of whom have no idea they are being recruited. It's called the thousand talents program which on the face of it installs Chinese scientists (all of whom by nature must be approved CCP) into Western universities. On the flip side is the recruitment of Western scientists to visit China. These visits are red carpet events such that the lowliest of scientists are treated like royalty and then believe the CCP to be their friends. They are not. They are merely using the scientists as needed.
