Recently, while taking the escalator at Paveletskaya metro station and walking through Paveletskaya Plaza, I unexpectedly came across a familiar algorithm I once developed. It was one of those distinctive algorithms created for a glass company, where preserving the minimal size of the joint was crucial.

Each joint in this algorithm was unique, designed with strict requirements: the minimum length from the center to the joint’s entry point was predefined, while the maximum was determined by the angle of the intersecting rods. To create these joints, we used graph theory to pinpoint the key nodes on the grid and trigonometry for precise calculations.

Whenever I see these joints, I can instantly recognize them by their unique form and design. It’s such a special feeling to know that my work continues to live on and be utilized in real-world projects. It’s inspiring and a reminder that even the most complex challenges and algorithms can transform into beautiful, functional solutions.
