I have become conscious when people use the term "personal branding" in college admissions.

Using the term was often a sign that their knowledge of the application process was shallow and superficial.

I get it. Personal branding is simple to understand. It “sells" well. But, at its core, it is one of those BS concepts deprived of meaning.

As frustrating as this answer initially felt, I now recognize the subtle line between education and indoctrination.
