I have become conscious when people use the term "personal branding" in college admissions.

Using the term was often a sign that their knowledge of the application process was shallow and superficial.

I get it. Personal branding is simple to understand. It “sells" well. But, at its core, it is one of those BS concepts deprived of meaning.
