We're reacting surprisingly strongly to the Sergey Brilyov case. He is a VGTRK journalist, the host of Putin's inaugurations and a citizen of the United Kingdom.

Agenda:

- Navalny didn't present any proof to his accusations in his investigation
- Brilyov is a Russian patriot, he is only using UK citizenship for his job as a journalist
- a million dollars (the cost of his London apartment) isn't much, he could earn that by working hard

****Note: Sergey Brilyov is one of Putin's main propaganda experts who caters for a more level-headed public. While Kiselyov and Solovyov play more on anger and strong feelings, Brilyov is more "Putin-like", behaving calm and composed, frequently just ignoring difficult topics or brushing them off as unimportant. When the identity of the Skripal poisoning suspects was revealed to be GRU agents, previously claimed by Putin to be civilians, he just rerouted the whole news piece to another, even more important "sensation" - princess Meghan closing a car door. Purposeful misinformation and working for someone who poisons UK citizens with a nerve agent is in direct conflict of him swearing allegiance to the Crown.

All in all, his "news" shows are for people who generally don't like bad news. His message is "all is good in Russia".

The investigations by FBK revealed his UK citizenship, his UK property, and his positions in boards of various government agencies, the latter is in direct violation of Russian law as he has a foreign nationality. Of course, a "foreign agent" label doesn't apply to one of Putin's main bullshit amplifiers.

After initial hesitation and denials by Brilyov's wife, Sergey published a post on Facebook "explaining" that everyone knew about these things all along and that there's nothing illegal in him holding a government position (it unambiguously is illegal and Navalny is now submitting a request to the courts to check this, should make for a nice circus when the pocket courts try to bail one of Putin's pet dogs out again).

****Note: Three Ukrainian ships tried to pass through the Kerch Strait between Crimea and Russia. They were blocked by a container ship, fired upon and the crew taken hostage by Russian forces.

This tactic is most likely a response to the fall of Putin's approval ratings. Russian rotten government wants to create an outside threat "that must be dealt with before internal problems". Misinformation via trolling should help with that.

The topic of paid online trolls and fake news has been raised on Russian TV. They didn't mention the domestic Kremlebots though, only British ones.

They talk about the 77th Brigade of the UK Armed Forces. It does several tasks: collecting data from the social media, studying online audience, astroturfing (publishing with the aim of affecting public opinion), spreading misinformation, creating content and performing psychological attacks.
And judging by all, this process is set up very well.

Seems like not only our country is going crazy. Soon the whole world will drown in lies and mistrust.
