UPDATE

Hi Everyone

I wanted to touch base in relation to the current events, and the direction of Darwin Protocol.

As many of you are aware we have been talking with the community each day to gauge opinion and measure potential direction.

I believe we now have a path forming for our relaunch.

DarwinSwap

Our first goal is to relaunch DarwinSwap, this is our core product and is what will allow us to generate income. This income will in turn be focused towards paying back investors.

We hope this will be a stop gap measure, but regardless of what happens with the legal case surrounding Matteo and the stolen funds we will continue to use the DEX to the best of our abilities to pay everyone until all debts are covered by it.

With that in mind we are making changes to the DEX to accommodate this.

Farming

We are removing farming.

Farming is a reward for tokens to keep their LP locked on the DEX. But no actual token wants to farm DEX tokens. All they do is mint and then sell them.

This causes token inflation, accompanied by huge sell pressure which hurts $DARWIN holders when we relaunch the token.

So we are removing it. Instead we are going to give teams 15% of the fee taken from trades. This gives them actual cash that they actually want.

Teams have already confirmed to me they much prefer this. So it benefits you the token holders by removing the inflation and sell pressure elements, while benefiting tokens by giving them what they want which increases adoption of the DEX, and provides us with trading fees.

Liquidity Injector

At the moment the liquidity injector simply sells coins to buy tokens and pair them.

I am looking at upgrading this substantially to provide 2 more unique functions. I'm unsure if we will be able to deploy it for relaunch, but I'm hoping we can.

I'll provide more details on this soon.

Single Chain

We are going to focus purely on Etherium chain.

We believe this is the most beneficial chain at the moment, and it allows us to narrow our focus. This let's the entire team focus on one chain and get as many tokens listing with us from that chain as possible rather than spreading our focus.

New Token

Many of you are aware that we have been considering launching a new token.

I am unsure what will happen with this at this time. But we are currently exploring the possibility of another project launching their token on our DEX instead as the proof of concept.

This allows our entire team to focus on the DEX and getting token listings, while their entire team focuses on the token growth - which they have experience with.

$DARWIN

So where does this leave $DARWIN token?

At the moment it is currently down and it will stay that way until we have either raised enough funds via the DEX or received the money back from the theft.

With that in mind I have made upgrades to the token, significantly reducing the potential supply, removing farming, and I will be looking at increasing the APR for staking.

I'll provide more updates on it as we progress. But you can now access more pages on Darwinprotocol.io with updated information to reflect some of these changes.

Overview

As you all know Matteo stole money from all of us. Not a single member of this community is unaffected and I appreciate how difficult this must be for all of you.

Please be aware that we at Darwin Protocol continue to do everything we can to resolve this matter, and are taking every step we can outside of it to repay you all.

We remain committed to this project and believe that once people see the true power of what the Protocol does, tokens and users will flock to us. We cannot allow 1 bad actor stop everything we have done together.

I know it seems impossible now, but every issue leads to potential opportunity. I have already used these events to upgrade our offerings, and believe we can become stronger because of them.

DARWIN EXPLOIT BROADCAST

On 25 August 2023, Darwin Protocol was subject to an exploit resulting in the theft of 56 ETH.

Due to the prompt actions of Darwin Protocol, GemPad and UnoRe the account was frozen on an exchange to prevent further loss.

Authorities have been contacted, and criminal reports lodged with the intent to lock the funds pending withdrawal to the rightful owners with the assistance of blockchain forensics AMLBot.

Information on the perpetrator has been collected and provided to authorities who are handling the case.

The resolution of this legal matter may take some time and we do ask for your patience.

With that in mind, we will be taking action to try to provide refunds to anyone affected by the exploit through the re-launching of DarwinSwap once our full checks are performed.

It is our intention to try to use the fees collected through the swap to refund users where possible, and we are seeking the best manner in how this will be done.

Concerning recent events.

The Darwin Protocol team in collaboration with key partner and the relevant authorities has taken swift and decisive steps to rectify the incident that have impacted our smart contracts.

Efforts are already well underway to address the unauthorized fund transfers and the manipulation of liquidity that occurred.

It's heartening to note that the funds moved without authorization have been successfully blocked.

The ongoing investigation underscores the dedication of our organization to uncovering the truth and ensuring that such incidents do not recur. We believe that through transparency, collaboration, and determination, we will emerge from this situation stronger than ever.

Rest assured, our team remains steadfast in providing regular updates as the investigation progresses.
This incident, while challenging, serves as a testament to our resilience and determination to uphold the principles on which Darwin Protocol is built on.

To the Darwin community:Our CTO, Matteo Cosenza stole money from the Darwin Deployer; he changed the code via the tax function, prevented sell and drained the LP in our newly profound DEX. The decentralized exchange works, but unfortunately Matteo - being an insider - exploited the system.

ACTION TAKEN:Fast action by the @unoreinsure and @theGemPad teams were taken as soon as they were alerted of the situation.

@thegempad managed to trace 56 ETH in total which was transferred from 1 address to a fresh wallet and then sent in various amount to a CEX.

GemPad used our network to contact the CEX in question who were very helpful. The users account was Frozen and is pending investigation.

The @unoreinsure team stepped in to aid the Darwin team to help us recover the stolen funds; though the situation is still developing, at present, Uno Re has managed to get the stolen funds frozen on the CEX to which the perpetrator transferred them after stealing them.

Kieran is currently co-ordinating with @unoreinsure, the CEX, and @thegempad as well as filing an official Police report to allow legal procedure and contacting the local law enforcement agency to file a report for appropriate action.
