There are so many holistic birth coaches and educators. Isn’t the industry saturated by now? ?
Birth seems complicated…I want to support women, but I’m not sure how much good I could do without an existing background in childbirth or pregnancy. ⚕️
Am I selfish for wanting a flexible schedule or lavish income when so many women and babies are reeling from traumatic births? Should I just focus on being of service?​ ?

​And honestly, I'll never forget feeling that exact way until…

Seven years ago, I hosted a birth education class in my living room. One of the men in attendance was an anesthesiologist. Given the role of drugs in traumatic birth experiences, I was surprised to see him there.

Turns out, he got into anesthesiology because he thought women were dealt a bad hand. He wanted to serve the world by offering women a flight from pain during childbirth. ?

But eventually, he saw that epidurals and other interventions were fast tracks to C-sections.

He came to my class because he wanted to learn how to actually support women in having empowered birth experiences.

I felt validated.

Here was this man from the trenches of the obstetric industrial complex turning his back on his expensive training and cushy career in favor of intervention-free birth.

I thought: If even those straight from the obstetrics department were seeking alternatives, more women need to know there’s a better way. ?

This interaction brought me even more clarity and purpose on my path as a childbirth educator.

For as long as I can remember, I dreamt of a life where I could serve women, change the culture around birth, and share my gifts.

And finally, I made it happen.

I followed the deep call from within and became a birth educator. Now, educating men and women on easeful birth while earning more than I ever thought possible is my everyday reality. ?
