Slovenian troops from the Slovenian Territorial Defence unit during the brief Slovenian War of Independence also known as the Ten-Day War. The conflict saw roughly 45,000 Slovenians facing off against the Yugoslav People’s Army.
It was the second of the Yugoslav Wars to start in 1991, following the Croatian War of Independence, and by far the shortest of the conflicts with the fewest overall casualties. The Yugoslavian leadership didn’t believe the Slovenians would stand and fight, thinking that a show of force would be enough to make them back down. They were quickly proven incorrect and an independent Slovenia was born. ??

I can only imagine what the story behind this monthly “award” might have been!

The RhAF’s No. 4 Squadron was based at Thornhill and its pilots flew several types of aircraft, the most famous of which were the Cessna Skymasters or the Lynx as it was known in Rhodesian service. ??
