I also believe that our ability to make strong alcohol is much more advanced today than it was in biblical times. Just for the sake of example, their wine likely had an extremely low alcohol content compared to today's wines, beers, and definitely spirits. I think it probably takes much, much less consumption today to become inebriated than it did back then.
