? Jeopardize — /'dʒepərdaɪz/ verb
──────────────────────
(synonym — endanger)
I love it — such a unique word. Jeopardize means to put in danger.
Take note that O is silent. It's /'dʒepərdaɪz/ and NOT /'dʒeopərdaɪz/.
Also, there's no such a word as "geopard" in English (cause I certainly know that you will associate jeopardize with jeopard). There's a cheetah /'tʃi:tə/ ?, pronounced almost the same way as "cheater" ?. Or leopard (not the same as cheetah even though they look alike). "Leopard" has the same feature as "Jeopardize" — O is silent — /'lepərd/. ➤ ❶ (formal) to put something in danger, such as plan, system, career, etc. ➖ He would never do anything to jeopardize his career.
➖ This scandal could seriously jeopardize his chances of being re-elected.
➖ She knew that by failing her finals she could jeopardize her whole future.
➖ His health has been jeopardized by poor nutrition.
➖ The building of the factory near the lake might jeopardize the water’s ecosystem.
➖ How dare you jeopardize the lives of others by driving drunk!
?Listen to the audio down below (even though it's a video, still you can enable the audio if you press the volume up button on your phone).
