OpenAI just launched the new o1 model, designed to reason using the chain of thought technique to break down complex problems step by step.

but once again, we're one step ahead.

we've been using the chain of thought reasoning since last year with our Eclipse model which is available via the /ask2 (ex. /ask_detailed) command and the API.

first, we added JSON support one month before OpenAI, and now they have introduced a CoT-native model over six months after us.
