A common resident in Singapore that can grow up to 41 cm in length, the Stork-billed Kingfisher (Pelargopsis capensis) can be easily identified by its distinctive blue upperparts, big red bill and orange underparts. 

If you’re lucky, you might be able to spot it in mangroves and along waterbodies at places like Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the Singapore Botanic Gardens!

You may know of the Birds’ Nest Fern (Asplenium nidus), but have you seen the Mangrove Fern (Acrostichum aureum) before? ??

Bearing attractive young fronds that are orangey-red, the native Mangrove Fern (Acrostichum aureum) grows well in water-logged soils and can reach up to 3 m tall! They are commonly found growing at bright, sunny areas of inland mangrove forests. ?

Does your furry friend make your kitchen counter their personal buffet?

Counter-surfing, or stealing food from the kitchen counter, is a common problem for many dog owners. This behaviour can be problematic as dogs may consume food which are toxic to them, such as chocolate or grapes, leading to serious health issues or poisoning. ??

To prevent these habits, avoid putting food near the edge of counters. Instead, store food in the refrigerator or cupboards. This reduces opportunities for your dog to counter-surf, keeping your pup safe and happy! ❤️?
