If we want kindness compassion and fairness in the world we cannot be selective ?

Well 2024 is nearly behind us - the real astrological new year is January 5 th so glad to have the extra time of out with the old and in with the new
2024 was the most relentlessly stressful I have ever experienced but in saying that a deeply challenging year has brought me much awareness
I can only liken this year for me as an episode of they live - a 1980 s film where the main character finds a box of sunglasseses and when you wear them you can see the monsters pretending to be people that walk amongst us
On the animal welfare front I can’t begin to express how dire it is out there
The rescues are sooo overwhelmed they are absolutely cracking with the weight of tragedy that is mass animal neglect abuse and unwanted animals
Some pounds have an 80%kill rate - as do spca . Who mostly take surrendered animals straight to the pounds as they have closed most of their centres and have very few inspectors.
SPCA were donated 64 million last year - like most corporate enterprises very little of this money was spent on the cause it was donated to .
Leaving many rescues to pick up the pieces with no funding and the dangerous task of investigating abuse cases and uplifting dogs in abuse situations
Some of my friends have been physically abused and chased with machetes
This year I have seen some of the most incredible courageous extremely kind and brave animal welfare frontliners I have ever met become so burnt out and soo severely attacked they are absolutely broken . They have had emotional and nervous breakdowns. Mostly woman these brave souls suffer abuse and personal attacks on a daily basis they witness such terrible sadness and trauma that at times is unbearable.
The scale of decline in our value and care for the welfare of our animal friends is massive- and sadly preventable. With a gvt flick of the pen we could stop so much suffering overnight and registration should pay for desexing but the gvt have done quite a job on the public and have been pushing an anti animal narrative for decades inc predator free Nz agenda - micro plasma bovis and now bird flu
We have become numb and disconnected with animal suffering
The animal welfare act should have zero tolerance for cruelty and chained dogs
And prosecutions and life bans for owning animals should prevail for acts of cruelty and neglect
Rentals need to be addressed to accommodate pets as well as retirement villages
With such easy solutions being denied to us
I can only assume this is deliberate- and is attatched to the un agenda
Where they don’t want us to have pets or any connection to animals and nature for that matter
Bear in mind they test a lot on our animal friends
Vaccines microchipping control devices and social conditioning
And they love to blame animals for spreading viruses- instigating mass hysteria and public support for mass slaughter
Overseas they are banning some breeds of dog and I imagine it’s only a matter of time they do that here - I believe they wish to minimise the public having dogs that may be used for protection of person and property
The 72 charities around Nz are starting to work together but at the end of the day we need mass community support and awareness of what is happening on this front
I hope this coming year we can network together to help our animal friends
and the frontliners who go above and beyond on a daily basis to hold space and kindness and compassion for a better world for all the beautiful creatures on our earth

For those that think that the animals are of less importance please remember if our social conditioning becomes thus that ethics and values only apply to a select sector be it species or race or status- then the human condition will always be thus
That their will always be acceptance of cruelty terror and genocide if the narrative for doing so is embraced
