***It is argued that the call for turning to alternative energy sources for all nations is mandatory. I agree with this statement because non-renewable fossil fuels may cause irreparable damage to the environment and the consequences of not taking action on time could be disastrous.

The consumption of fossil fuels at private and industrial levels is one of the main drivers of environmental pollution. Most vehicles on city roads run on petrol or gas, releasing considerable amounts of carbon dioxide. This is compounded by millions of factories that burn coal as part of their industrial operation, and the smoke produced by this process is emitted into the atmosphere. These two sources of air pollution lead to the disruption of ecological balance, harm biodiversity, and, above all, result in health problems among people. The immediate action to replace non-renewables with eco-friendly renewable energy sources could help eliminate these problems. Norway, for example, is the pioneer in replacing oil-powered cars and switching to renewable energy sources for running their industries, which has proved effective in significantly reducing pollution levels within the country. If Norway’s way of fighting environmental pollution is followed on a global scale, this might help overcome the problems of and coming from environmental damage.

The repercussions of not taking immediate action could go beyond environmental damage. Fossil fuels are non-renewable and could run out at any point, so if industries and private vehicles keep heavily relying on oil to run, they may one day end up falling into disuse. Millions of cars and factories that use fossil energy could put tremendous pressure on the oil reserves, and unless they convert to alternative sources, these reserves will be severely depleted and run dry, leaving those industries and vehicles useless. Oil plants built in some regions of Saudi Arabia are now completely redundant since they have already exhausted oil reserves and the equipment to pump oil cannot be moved.

In conclusion, it is urgent for international community to encourage countries to switch to alternative energy sources. By doing so, they may contribute to the reduction of environmental damage and prevent the problems that may arise if fossil energy sources run out.***
