Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said:
"Verily, hearts are containers, so fill them with the Quran and do not fill them with anything else."
[Imam Ahmad, Al-Zuhd 891]
Yahya related to me from Mālik from Da'ud ibn al-Husayn that he heard al-Araj say:
"I never saw the people in Ramadan, but that they were cursing the disbelievers."
Muwatta Imām Mālik
كتاب الصلاة فى رمضان
On authority of 'Ibn Mas'ūd:
"We were prohibited from responding to whoever invites the wealthy and neglects the poor [to a wedding feast]..."
Related by Ibn Battal in Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari, 7/289
عن ابن مسعود أنه قال: نهينا أن نجيب من يدعو الأغنياء ويترك الفقراء
Imām Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal (رحمه الله) said:
“I have brothers who I only meet once a year, yet I have stronger love for them than people I meet every day.”
[al-Adāb ash-Shar'iyyah 3/283]
Imām al-Ajurri (رحمه الله) said:
“For whomever Allāh wants good, He opens the door of supplication for him, so he seeks refuge with his Karīm Mawlā. He worries about his dīn, protects his tongue,he is conscious of his time and holds onto the clear path of as-Sawād al-A’zam (Ahlus-Sunnah).”
[Ash-Sharī’ah 1/393]
It is reported from Ḥabīb Al-Jallāb that he asked ‘Abdullāh Ibn Al-Mubārak (رحمه الله):
“What is the best thing a person is ever given?” He replied, “Innate intelligence.” He then asked, “And if not that?” He replied, “Good conduct.” He then asked, “And if not that?” He replied, “A compassionate brother to consult.” He then asked, “And if not that?” He replied, “Long silence.” He asked, “And if not that?”
Ibn Al-Mubārak replied, “Then an early death.”
[Al-Dhahabī, Siyar ‘A’lām Al-Nubalā’ 8/397]
Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (رحمه الله) said in Tabaqāt al-Hanābilah (2/226):
“تقربوا إلى الله تعالى ببغض أهل الإرجاء ,فإنه من أوثق الأعمال إلينا”
“Get closer to Allah The Exalted by hating the people of Irjā‘ (the Murji'ah), for it is one of the closest deeds to us.”
Shaykh Muqbil lbn Hadi al-Wadi'ee رحمه الله said:
"Whoever marries a woman that wears the niqab and gloves, and does not watch TV, and aligns herself with the people of truth, and does not go to the hammam (public baths; pools, saunas), and does not complain too much, has obtained the woman of dreams."
