A note for those who have faced setbacks in the exam at any of its stages. More particularly prelims and mains.

We at Distilled IAS are not fans of the word 'failure'. As we believe outcomes may be failures but people never are. Failures are great sources of information and a terrible thing to waste. Some quick timeline of updates wrt CSM 2023 Mains Result. The official internal deadline to be ready with the result was 8th December 2023. In lieu of the same, UPSC has finalised the list today. However, owing to the EWS case yesterday in the Hon'ble Central Administrative Tribunal, and the fact that certain students were granted some sort of relief, UPSC has also prepared another list with such inclusions as necessary, while remarking the provisionality of the same wrt the case in concern.

So now, we have 2 PDFs duly ready, however, UPSC has filed a counter today morning against the relief granted to aspirants yesterday and therefore a member has suggested holding the results till the stay is granted on the case, in the meeting held today.

The ball now lies in the Chairman's court. He can give it a go ahead and get it out within the next two hours. He could also hold it until the next hearing. Also depending on CAT orders today on the counter case filed by UPSC.
