Indian Army issues clarification regarding claim made by MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the Indian Army did not pay any compensation to the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, after his death during service.

In the statement, the army states that the serviceman’s family has already received an amount of Rs 98 Lakh. The statement goes on to say that an amount of Rs 67 Lakh, owing to Agniveer benefits shall also be paid to the family shortly after police verification.

The Army emphasised that compensation due to a fallen hero are paid "expeditiously to the next of kin of departed soldiers, including Agniveers".

North Korea will reportedly send an engineer battalion to Donetsk to help Russia re-build the city. The rumour came around after Russia & NK signed defence cooperation pack on Putin's visit to Pyongyang.

Ukrainian & South Korean media sources, the latter quoting an anonymous South Korean official confirmed that North Korea plans to send troops to help Russia, which was part of the pact. Although there are no official confirmations to support the claims, news releases just days after signing of the pact said Putin and Kim would not rule out military cooperation in the event either of their countries are invaded.

'The treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership signed today envisages ensuring mutual support if one of the signatories to the treaty is invaded, Putin said, adding that the Russian Federation shall not rule out military-technical cooperation with the DPRK under the treaty.'

Meanwhile, during a state visit to Vietnam on June 20, Putin downplayed the idea of using North Korean troops in the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told a reporter that the U.S. will 'keep an eye' on North Korean troops being deployed in Ukraine but did not confirm whether such a decision had been taken by Pyongyang - per U.S. intelligence reports.
