This took me at most 30 minutes in total.

From the age of 3 to ~14 I spent most summers in the village.

End of summer, august, was the period when the cotton would be harvested. My uncle is a farmer, so we would have fresh cotton, and step 1 was to clear the cotton from seeds (it’s called chigit in our dialect). This is the easiest step, and the only one I got to participate in.

Takes quite a lot of time and effort, but this is usually done на досуге (2-3 people chatting casually and doing it), so you don’t notice how time is gone.

Chigit is pressed to make paxta yog’i.

I have a very vague idea about how that cotton turns into ko’rpa after that though. I assume the casing is sewn first, and ko’rpa is pressed into the casing. After that, there is “ko’rpa qovish”: sew in lines along the ko’rpa, maybe to keep the cotton attached to the casing. Usually the gap between the lines is 10-12cm? Yarim qarich.

What to do if connecting flight is delayed and now you have 50 minutes between the flights?

University culture sucks. Partially.

- a lot of fakeness. ‘Brief pleasantry’ as career development center puts it.

50% of all small talks in nyuad don't go out of 'how are you', 'how was your {summer/fallbreak/period two guys didn't see each other}', 'what courses are you taking'. I have a slight feeling that some people are trying hard to pretend that they care about everyone.

- Ignoring people. Coming from the school with less than 200 students, I’d greet ~100ppl/day. Here it’s different. I accepted that it’s ok to walk past smn you know without even greeting them (uzbek core blooming). To be frank, it saves a bit of social battery, so it's not completely bad.

Thank god we have some arabs/снг people(people from cis region, including uzbeks) who are more socially responsible(?) and sincere. Don’t know if it’s an element of western or nyuad culture (or both?), but either way this aspect of it sucks.

My solution to remove this fakeness: if I don't think it's worth to spend time talking right now, I choose to not extend the convo beyond the greeting. 3 seconds of sincere greeting is better than 1 minute of fake conversation. A low power mode for your social battery, per se.
