Dear colleagues and friends! Meet our Special Issue 10(4) 2024!
https://rrlinguistics.ru/media/linguistics/2024/4/Research_Result_4-42__vcIf5XS.pdf
Specials thanks to all the contributors: authors, guest editors and editors, and executive secretary!
Tatiana Litvinova, Kira Lee, Olga Mitrofanova, Igor Lyashenko, Nina Gaponenko, you made it possible!?
Happy New Coming Year!☃️??
?Dear colleagues and friends! We are looking forward to December issue! All the articles in the issue are expected to be accompanied with a graphical/visual abstract. We encourage our authors to try and provide for their manuscripts such kind of infographics if applicable, of course.
We would like to share some tips on creating graphical abstracts.
Step-by-Step Process for Creating a Graphical Abstract
✅Step 1: Define Your Key Message
Before you start designing, clarify the main message you want to convey. This should be a concise summary of your research, ideally in one to two sentences.
✅Step 2: Conceptualize and Sketch
Begin by sketching your ideas on paper. This helps you visualize the layout and decide on the essential visual elements, such as diagrams, icons, or images that represent your findings. Focus on what story you want to tell and how to best illustrate it.
✅Step 3: Plan Your Layout
Consider how to arrange the visual and textual elements. A clear layout is crucial for readability. Use arrows or lines to guide the viewer through your abstract. Look at examples of other graphical abstracts for inspiration and determine which layout works best for your content.
✅Step 4: Choose Your Visuals
Select visuals that support your message. These can include graphs, illustrations, or photographs that highlight key results or concepts from your research. Aim for simplicity: too much information can make the abstract cluttered and difficult to interpret.
✅Step 5: Design and Refine
Once you have your concept and layout planned, move on to graphic design software to create your graphical abstract. Here are some free tools that can help:
• PowerPoint: Widely accessible and user-friendly, PowerPoint allows you to create professional-looking graphical abstracts with its various design features.
• Inkscape: This open-source vector graphics editor is excellent for creating detailed illustrations and designs.
✅Step 6: Seek Feedback
Before finalizing your graphical abstract, seek feedback from colleagues or mentors. They can provide valuable insights into clarity and effectiveness, ensuring that your message is communicated as intended.
✅Step 7: Finalize and Export
After making necessary adjustments based on feedback. Export it in the required formats (such as PNG, TIFF, or PDF) suitable for submission to journals.
? To all the authors, reviewers and editorial members!
Announcement:
Integration of Generative AI Policy in Our Journal
In response to the recent encouragement from Scopus for journals to adopt dedicated policies regarding the use of Generative AI (GenAI), we are pleased to announce that our journal has officially integrated a comprehensive Generative AI policy into our editorial guidelines.
https://rrlinguistics.ru/en/
This initiative reflects our commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of academic publishing while embracing the opportunities presented by emerging technologies.
Rationale Behind the Policy
As Generative AI continues to evolve, it offers both significant benefits and challenges in scientific writing and publishing. The integration of GenAI can enhance the efficiency of the writing process, improve clarity, and assist researchers in navigating complex information landscapes. However, it also raises critical ethical concerns, particularly regarding authorship, academic integrity, and the potential for misinformation.
In alignment with Scopus’s recommendations, our policy aims to:
✅Enhance Transparency:We will require authors to disclose any use of Generative AI tools in their submissions. This disclosure is essential for maintaining trust among authors, reviewers, and readers.
✅Uphold Academic Integrity: Our policy emphasizes that while AI tools can assist in the writing process, they do not replace human authorship. Authors remain responsible for the content and integrity of their submissions.
✅Establish Guidelines for Use:
The policy outlines acceptable practices for utilizing Generative AI, while ensuring that absolute transparency and human oversight are paramount.
Key Elements of Our Generative AI Policy
1. Disclosure Requirement: Authors must declare any use of Generative AI tools during the writing process within their manuscript submissions.
2. Human Oversight: All content assisted by AI must be reviewed and approved by human authors to ensure accuracy and adherence to ethical standards.
3. Confidentiality Assurance: Manuscripts submitted for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers and editors are prohibited from using Generative AI tools on submitted manuscripts to protect authors’ rights and privacy.
4. Ethical Considerations: We will actively monitor developments in AI technology and adapt our policies to address emerging ethical challenges, ensuring that our practices remain aligned with best practices in scholarly publishing.
Future Directions
As we implement this policy, we recognize that the Generative AI tools landscape is rapidly changing. We are committed to ongoing dialogue of our editorial board with authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders to refine our approach as necessary.
We believe that this proactive stance will not only align us with Scopus’s and other journals and publishers’ guidelines but also position our journal as a leader in ethical publishing practices in an increasingly digital academic environment.
We look forward to your understanding and support as we embark on this important journey together.
