The "Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland" (eng. National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands) was founded 91 years ago today

Impressed by German National Socialism and fascism, Anton Adriaan Mussert, then 37 years old and a graduate engineer, decided in 1931 to build up a National Socialist movement in the Netherlands.

The Dutch, who had not experienced a Versailles dictate, felt threatened by communism.

Mussert was arrested in The Hague on May 7, 1945, and tried from November 27, 1945. The prosecution demanded the death penalty in the name of the Queen, which was also pronounced on December 12, 1945. The Appeals Chamber confirmed the sentence on March 20, 1946, and Mussert was executed on May 7, 1946.

The "Condor" Legion was a German military mission and, in effect, an expeditionary corps of the German Wehrmacht on the side of General Franco in the Spanish Civil War. The Legion was disbanded on 10 June 1939 at the Döberitz military training area after its return to the Reich.
