On October 13, 2022, James Steven Jack Brearley, a 21 year old White man, killed Cassius Turvey, an aboriginal, and injured another aboriginal by brutally beating them with a metal pole. Brearley spotted the aboriginals as they exited a school bus before he started beating them and shouting racial slurs at them. The first aboriginal died of head injuries from the attacks and the second one was left crippled and forced to wear crutches.
