*If you’re learning Arabic to understand the Qurʾān, the ḥadīth, scholarly writings, etc. then the worst advice someone can give you is to “ditch the grammar books.”

If your purpose is to improve your Arabic speaking/listening skills, be familiar with common expressions, verbal usages, etc. then the worst advice someone can give you is to ignore opportunities to immerse yourself in the language.

These two types of group-thinkers are responsible for the production of both (a) the “Arabic expert” who’s studied eight texts but speaks like he’s from the 1600’s—when he is forced to, of course—and can’t even raise his own children with Arabic, and (b) the “I know Arabic”-akhī who confidently misreads into texts thinking he understood it the best, and gets a dissociative seizure when you mention two slightly advanced grammatical points on a verse.

The best way is to do both: studying the sciences and immersing oneself.*

Blessed is he who is occupied with his own faults over the faults of people

It's upon you to know that learning the Arabic language is among the obligatory matters upon every Muslim and Muslimah, at least the portion of it that would let one understand the obligatory parts of their salāh, due to the general rule of: ما لا يتم الواجب به فهو واجب (whatever an obligatory matter cannot be completed without it, then it is obligatory as well).

Furthermore, to be a student of knowledge, one must have a firm grasp on the Arabic language, and at least part of its 12 branches. This is something that the scholars of the salaf and khalaf have all agreed upon, and the quotes one could gather from them in this matter alone are more than abundant.

Because of this, this channel, and any other channel you come across, should serve you as a tool to be able to test your understanding, in shā Allāh. Whenever any Arabic text is posted, please take the time to read it thoroughly before skipping to the translation, let the translation simply be a confirmation for you that you understood it correctly بإذن الله. Learning a language entails more than your active study time, it also means that you expose yourself to the language as much as possible outside of that, whether it is through reading, speaking, or listening.
