​​US Arrests Ethereum Developer For Training North Koreans To Evade Sanctions

According to US DoJ, Virgil Griffith, 36, traveled to North Korea via China in April to attend the Pyongyang Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Conference, despite being denied permission by the U.S. Department of State to go.

Griffith, who has a doctorate from the California Institute of Technology, gave a presentation on topics preapproved by North Korean officials, provided valuable technical information, and engaged in talks about using cryptocurrency technology to circumvent sanctions and launder money, prosecutors said.

TL;DR - As a public figure, you probably shouldn't help North Korea or any antagonistic foreign powers, launder money using your blockchain.

An unpopular opinion. I'm pretty sure that if this guy didn't try to teach the North Koreans how to do this then someone else eventually would have. Either that or they would have learned how to do it themselves. I'm not aware of the technical stuff that he was trying to teach the North Koreans but I imagine that a great majority of it is in the public domain?

​​BREAKING: German Banks Allowed to Sell Cryptocurrencies

The German parliament today passed a bill allowing banks to sell and store cryptocurrencies from next year. The new legislation will come into force on 1 January 2020.

It amends a clause in the European Union’s Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive that currently prohibits banks from dealing directly in cryptocurrency. It allows them to legally sell and store cryptocurrencies, just as they do stocks and bonds, to retail as well as institutional investors.
